Excellent player for England - one of our most consistent - but entirely the correct decision.

People have bitched and moaned for years about managers picking players on reputation. Can't have it both ways - he's barely played all season and the other 2 that will presumably be picked (Baines and Shaw) have been excellent for their clubs all season.

The rumoured selections of Jones and particularly Smalling are far more dodgy than this decision.

Daft choice. The squad is already quite weak and inexperienced.

Cole is the best player I've seen for England, can't remember him having a bad game he's so consistent. As Jay said the performance against Portugal was a masterclass, I ranked it as the third best performance I've ever seen for England behind Owen Vs Germany and Beckham Vs Greece.

Right choice for me. He's been great for England but the time has probably come to bring the next generation through. Baines is plenty experienced and Shaw is a prodigious talent. Cole hasn't had the greatest season, he's been out of the chelsea team as much as in it.

My major concern is Jones and Smalling, both feckin ***** but will probably be going rather than Stones, who for my unbiased money is twice the player already.

Did he nearly crash his car when he heard the news? Adeus.

Agreed, he had him in his pocket. One of a few England players who have actually been world class over the past 10 years.

Never came across particularly well off the pitch but I'd say Splashley has been our best tournament player over the last 10 years. Now that Baines has over taken him there's little point him tagging along.

Along with Gerrard & Ferdinand, Cole's the only England player I feel has turned up & performed well at major tournaments in the past 10 years.

Top player, probably under rated a fair bit as well as everyone thinks he's a bell end for what he gets up to off the pitch
