The only change I'd have done was bring Solly on a little bit earlier, once the Cardiff tactics 2nd half became clearer.
Mark Clement came to Oakwell before the 2-2 draw with brum in 2016. It was hyped up with a piece on Rimmo we went 2-0 up and fecked tht up. I think when onus is on the game it effects the players. Whatever the era or the players.
I generally think that refs do a decent job. I know they make mistakes, but they're honest mistakes. You can see they're trying to do a good job. Football is a fast games and mistakes are bound to happen. But this guy tonight... he didn't understand the game, had no concept of what they were doing, rolling about on the floor when not even touched and didn't penalise some vicious challenges. Awful.
I understand complaining about the club is your de facto position. But do you not think that maybe we were a bit unlucky in that the two big decisions went against us (along with many others) and the fact that Sibbick could've been better at the far post (even though he probably got a push) might not be the sole factor for our defeat? Genuinely, I get that it was a ***** game but we showed the only quality in the game and surely were it not for an incompetent ref we would've won?
Well I am very disappointed with that. I don't normally do post match reactions, but that referee spoilt that. When at the ground you give them the benefit of the doubt as my eyes are shocking and they are nearer to the action but when it's on the telly, it's all to see. Why did he only book one player, ours at that? Why did he fall for Cardiff's falling on the floor? Why did he disallow a perfectly good goal? Why are goalkeeper protected so much, does the referee have small man syndrome? 22 footballers on the pitch, and the referee takes centre of attention. That is poor refereeing. Refs should "Competently anonymous" but unfortunately this guy was incompetently visible.
Regarding the manner of the draw tonight. That might have an adverse effect. We've thrown win away. No thirty yard screamers both soft goals. Saturday is a pressure game now when it needent be.
