I have to say Jay, you have a way of putting things that I tend to wholeheartedly agree with, as is the case here again. Apart from the bit about players not making mistakes - all players make mistakes - but yes Ipswich can afford to sign players who are less likely to slip up. But yes, completely agree on all other points. And very pleased with the team and manager this season, and grateful to be in the play-offs.

WTF was Duff thinking to drop the guy who a few days ago scored a brace in a comfortable win and a guy involved in 7 points out of 9? Those decisions backfired. A replacement for Connell should have been the only change. He's got to take some responsibility for tonight.

Aren’t you always advocating dropping Isted for Collins? Someone else who was involved in 7 points out of 9.

Collins is a much better keeper. He wouldn't have conceded at his near post from the very first corner all game he had to deal with.

True, it is a deficiency in Isteds game getting beaten at the near post.

    2 things here.

    1. Isted should not have been beaten like that.
2, We don't leave anyone up when defending corners. So with all men back, surely we can spare one of them to be on the post?

And 3 Russel shouldn’t have stood and watched the Ipswich player run round him and head the ball unchallenged

I'm pretty sure he will. He'll understand how that affected the result, no doubt.

But equally he's got selection decisions right on a number of occasions - why not this time?

We have no natural replacement for Connell. Russell is the closest we have. I don't think he did a great deal wrong tonight. A few misplaced passes, one pass that Williams didn't react to that was the right ball and generally just not being Connell.

Benson cannot play that role. Kane cannot play that role. Neither can Phillips or Thomas. Tonight we either had to change our system completely or hope that the nearest replacement we had could do a job.

He didn't cost us the game. Poor goalkeeping have them the lead. Poor defending cost us the second. Didn't have a good view for the third but it looked like goalkeeping again. Not sure tonight's defeat can be laid entirely at Duff or Russell's feet. Mistakes were made and punished. Conversely, Norwood put the ball across the box and forced a reaction from their keeper. All season long those seem to have dropped at the feet of Cole for a simple goal - tonight it bounced a foot or so too far for him to reach. Fine margins.

We employ the same tactic at free kicks and I don't understand it - if we (half) clear the ball we have noone to pick it up and allow the team to clear the box. We're inviting the ball to be returned for another chance. I'd really like us to leave one of our quickest players outside the box to at least make it awkward to return the ball.

Not a fact. But merely an opinion and I think you are wrong.

Ipswich were better than us and I can handle that. The referee was an absolute joke, though. We're through to the Play Offs and I have confidence in our Head Coach and the players.

Funny listening to Ipswich fans reacting to last nights game like they beat Barcelona. Honestly they will struggle they didn’t look all that last night and they won’t get more than their fair share of ref decisions like they did yesterday.

Tedic has scored 3 goals all season let's not get carried away. At times this season he's been on the pitch and may aswell come sat with me.

Championship standard bar Burnley has been really poor this season from the games I've seen.

Said in another thread Blackburn have lost 17 games and still could get the play offs and potentially promoted. Crazy. Ipswich will be okay next season.

Ipswich will be fine. They're already operating on a Championship budget, and will only add to it.
