I did and subsequently sold them this morning.

Would I rather RM stayed nationalised? Yes but that's not the case and money better in my pocket than in someone else's

The economic genius that is Vince Cable is adamant the co. hasn't been undervalued.

    No, course not.

What time do The Toxteth riots kick off ?

    I have some

but I am employed by them so they were free. However we have to keep them 3 years and if we leave the Royal Mail in that time scale they take them off us. So a real con in fact.

I applied for £1000 worth but have only got £750. I don't intend to hold them for long.

I think you will find that ..

you have to keep them a few years before you can sell them on.

So it's designed as a reward / incentive for long term committed employees.

I'm struggling to see where the con is .....

It would be harsh if you retired or left through ill health, but if you jumped ship and took your skills and experience elsewhere for more cash I'm thinking loosing the options is fair.

    they are safe

if you retire or are laid off sick. But they did this a few years ago9around 2008) , gave us what they called colleague shares. They said we could get them cashed last year. Then a few months before the date they withdrew them all.

    That does seem harsh.

I doubt whether they can do the same with these plc. shares though.

Lady on the news just said that Post Office employees have bought shares over their allocation, and then they're going on strike about it?

    Re: they are safe

Well flogging off the railways and the utilities and the housing stock worked so well with all the money being reinvested in the country...providing us with cheap rail travel and massive investment by private firms in future technology whilst all the money from selling council houses was used to build more. Meaning that there is no need for anyone to chose to be homeless or exploited by private landlords. Because god knows what would have happened if all that hadn't happened. We could be in the midst of the slowest recovery from an economic downturn in history looking for scapegoats amongst the poor and disabled...let's privatise the Police next nothing could go wrong with that either.

Economic mismanagement on a massive scale to sell off something that makes you money at a massively undervalued rate.

A shameful act that I want no part of, let alone profit. Anyone who has bought them is a Tory, even if they don't know it. Expect your precious shares to get lost in the post.
