RE: Surviving in the Championship without break the £2k a week barrier Bloke who owns half the club??? I suppose you mean Cryne who actually only part owns the ground and land along with the council??? Can I ask, what wages would you pay for this league to survive, never mind promotion?
RE: You might not Yes I have, one. He is only 2 but end of day I have bought him home and away since he was born. Why... Because I want him to follow Barnsley along with me.
I'd pay whatever it takes to stay up realistically, I think relegation will cost us about £1 million, so thats what I'd be prepared to pay to avoid it.
And he's never asked for players name on the back? surprised at that. first thing my lad asks for. did you go to the open day?
RE: Yeah but Huddersfield are ****... The thing is there are players out there that would come and whose clubs would allow them to go out on loan but AR chooses not to follow it up.
Whether our lack of transfer activity is AR's fault or GS's fault is neither here nor there. Its the lack of transfer activity full stop.
If AR is pushing back with 'i don't want to sign anybody' then GS should be saying you'd better get somebody signed soon because we need some fresh blood.
If its GS thats tightening the purse strings then AR should be saying to us that we have no money to spend and we have to make do with what we've got.
Players will always be available for loan and don't kid yourself otherwise.

RE: And he's never asked for players name on the back? Yes I always go to the Open Day. At the moment he doesn't have any name on the shirt. If he wants to when he is older then he can.
I was at the Open Day ... ... and Mrs SM wanted something of mine down her back. By the way - I meant spongle there, just in case you didn't know. I've seen young girls with Tommy, sorry, Toby Tyke on their backs. Big players sell shirts. That's why I bought a "Lehterethereehtheren" one for jumping about behind the goal in. Witmassiveglovesart.
Well said Spartacus None of us know what the financial restrictions of our club are , nor do we know what salary is being paid to players at other clubs . When a poster makes a suggestion of a potential target , someone else then makes derisory comments about said footballer stating that the player is on £Xk a week and we can't afford him (although how they know such personal details is never revealed) . Also , why will it necessitate the club goes into administration simply by bringing in new players , as some posters have claimed ? If we don't know what the club's financial restrictions are , then we can't make definitive statements as to whether we are able to afford suggested individuals .
RE: Yeah but Huddersfield are ****... Fact - AR recently as been looking for players. He's realsied himself that we need that extra blood, despite what he said in July / Aug about giving the lads the chance. Im the same as any fan, I thought that statement was about unrealistic for this league, but stood by him. Now the players who he's enquired about, are clubs turning us down because we won't contribute to wages (GS issue) or because we cant gurantee 1st team football (AR issue). We'll actually never know.
RE: I have to agree with that, Sad to say in my experience you're very wrong. Many of them are happy to pick up the money and don't really enjoy football anymore. It's still a job to them after all.
is this the same dominic matteo that played 7 games last seaosn and has yet to play this season? watse of money for a past it player who quite frankly would not give a monkeys if the club went down or not!!
Cut your cloth McIndoe, Togwell, Colgan, Howard and Hassell are Championship players and are likely to be bought by Championship clubs when we go down. would recoup some, if not all, of the million quid. everythings a gamble in football. we're 3 players short. if we go into the summer thinking what if we'd have pushed the boat out a bit, it'll be 2 or 3 seasons of struggle again.
RE: Well said Spartacus The club can only go into administration if it cannot service it's debts or the person who underwrites those debts decised he does not want to anymore. Patrick Cryne is a lifelong Barnsley fan an I'd be amazed if he ever called in his money as that would mean the death of the club. Although we still have debts, these are owed to two organisations/individuals who are committed to the survival of the club, not a bank (NatWest) who could not give a toss.
My lad went mad for the autographs even got the physio to sign his shorts. his favourite player is McIndoe. if we signed a player from the Prem, no doubt he'd be sifting through copies of Match to find a photo. kids, eh.
What???!! are we only intending to sign players that care deeply about Barnsley FC? do you think McIndoe and Togwell will stick around when we go down? Matteo has been told he'll be allowed out on loan to get games. he's quality, and if you cant see that then we'll leave it there. again.
Some of em signed 2 year deals I think should command a modest fee. our wage bill will be just about right tho when we're only paying a bunch of bairns and nehrdowells.
RE: My lad went mad for the autographs Our little un is only 2 years old so not quite at that stage yet. Saying that, can't wait till he does get into it
Yeah, I saw you 'hanging' around the disabled stand. sizing up a seat ready for when you get knee capped?
