Ha ha . Well that would just top the lot. “Billionaire owners” and we’re going into administration. Could someone tell me again what their role is and what they would have brought to the Club, should that be the case. The only scenario that fits ‘devastating’ news out of all the speculation on this thread is the idea that these charlatans have managed to get their hands on Ownership of the ground. That would be truly devastating and the Council would deserve a good kicking should it ever happen.
Unless the owners know Wigan are going to get away with it and expect to get away with it too. Clear some bills 5p in the pound. They need to sell under the rules presumably but can’t see that being an issue. They can sell it to themselves with a patsy front man under a different company name easily enough.
But most tickets bar away tickets are ST that have already been paid for. They aren't paying for match day stewards, staff have been furloughed . Loss on food and drink profit but surely that's not mega bucks? Yes there will be a loss but surely a financially prudent club like ours can take the hit or what's the point?
Only if the administrators find a buyer. If not it’s liquidation. Let’s pray eh? I must check out my credit card rights In the meantime!!
Can't see how the money they lost on four home games being delayed and then played behind closed doors has precipitated a financial crisis to a club that previously said it was operating well within its means. There are relatively few non-season ticket holders at home games and whilst Forest would have brought a good number I can't believe we'd be daft enough to bank on Blackburn, Millwall and Wigan bringing many at all. I can't imagine other matchday income streams bring in any substantial profits, eg the parlous outsourced catering. Some costs will have been lost to offset this too - eg policing. Yes, we may have lost some sponsorship but again I don't think we have massive sums at stake here and there will be Covid related costs but on the other side of the coin (literally) we must have got the best part of £2.5-3m in from the 7,000 season tickets sold and the Wilks transfer. Therefore if the rumoured news is financial/administration it can only be down to hitherto unheralded mismanagement on an unbelievable scale given the prior reported accounts, or some dodgy transactions/opportunism.
Didn't the club tell us they make nothing from refreshment sales too. It's an outside contractor who takes the profit. No refreshment sales, extremely low matchday ticket sales. 4 games. It ain't that much and Dane said a few weeks ago we had money in reserve.
It's not the money lost in 4 home games. By April most clubs have nothing left. But season tickets go on sale. Last season we sold about 10,000, maybe more, and then sold a number of players during the closed season. We've sold 7,000 season tickets at a fraction of the price. There's no other income. Outgoings remain the same. The losses are enormous.
All football-related debts have to be settled in full. It’s only the suppliers and non-footballer employees who suffer.
Yep we had our bumper crowds before lockdown, Leeds , Wendy, West Brom etc . There wouldn’t be a substantial PotD for remaining games and the STs sold so far won’t have put the club in a bad position at this stage choose how cheap they are . It’s not a financial statement if there is an announcement it’s something else I still think it’s Struber as I think that’s devastating to the owners to lose someone they’ve invested lot of time and probably resources chasing .
Maybe they didn’t realise how many tubby fans we have and they’re already sold out the XL & XXL replica shirts?
Struber leaving isn’t a devastating announcement. I would barely sum up the energy to sigh about it. We’d just recruit the next mid-table gegenpresser from Bundesliga B.
Sorry I don't agree with you on this. £3m of new cash will cover a number of months' costs. Outgoings are incurred roughly in twelfths other than match-day specific ones and so whilst we may be spending more per month than a twelfth of our income, the fact is that the season tickets provide several months of that income up front and should cover costs for a number of months. Ignoring the fact that we were told we have reserves and a healthy existing cash balance, we may hit difficulties in a few months' time as the season ticket money runs out but you'd be negligent as owners if you didn't use that time to cut costs in line with your income. That's why I reckon it's more likely to be an announcement about the academy.
Look Gimmer, I’ll get my credit cards and together we’ll take over. We can continue the current Owner policy of not putting a penny into the Club. Easy. But we’ll do some really radical stuff like; - have a buying policy that fishes in the entire pond and not 15% of it. - have a selling policy where we get a true value for players that benefits this Club and not just the buying Club. - try really really hard not to treat the fan base like mugs and be open and honest about the issues we face, good and bad. - get properly into bed with the Local Authority and become a real Community Club not just one that see’s the marketing value in the phrase. - buy some new tellies. - put some under-seat heating in the Ponty. piece of Pi$$
Give the timing of these rumblings (i.e. after we failed to beat Leeds and are as good as down) it wouldn't surprise me if it's administration. The board may see an opportunity to clear debt and mitigate the ongoing impact of coronavirus on the basis that they're comfortable with a consolidation season next season and that we won't go down with -12. I won't be happy if it is, because they'll have sacrificed a promotion shout, they'll be shafting creditors and lastly because we are by no means guaranteed to survive starting on -12 and I imagine that if we were to go down it would be very bad times indeed.
Really cant see administration happening, if the owners are being serious about litigation against efl and other clubs, then us going into admin would look very foolish
