It wouldn’t be prime building land though would it? Council would insert restrictions to stop that happening I’m sure they put any prospectors off with inserted restrictions on the land .
The government want houses built they hold the final say through the planning appeals process the council are strapped for cash money talks don't hold out for the council to be the shield that stops redevelopment of Oakwell.
A £12000 donation to the Tory party bought planning permission in London for a Tory donor. How many houses could be built on the land in question developers only need to promise to build a few shops etc and maybe a small primary school and planning becomes a much smoother process for them.
Nay, we desperately need residential building, they can’t build anything other that residential buildings can they. There’d be no room for owt else
Really you look at a map, the footprint of the land in question is massive plenty of room for a mixed development of houses a few shops and a small school.
This is how I see it, for what it's worth. Administration is a legal process that has to be initiated when you identify that you are trading insolvent. It is not something that can be a planned announcement like a press conference to announce the signing of a player. It needs to be initiated as soon as it is realised that you are insolvent. The club can't think, "we'll go into admin next week and announce it on Friday". They aren't in control. When a business goes into admin, its day to day running is taken over by administrators and the board lose all control. They can't therefore decide to use it to shift a few debts and clear the decks. They are not in control of whether they can even get control of the club back. I don't think we can be trading insolvent at the moment because of all the ST money that has just been banked. Of course, that doesn't mean that things wont get very sticky over the next 12 months because of the fact that the amount banked is well down on what we would otherwise have expected. But that's for another day. We can't be insolvent right now because we have that money in the bank. So this announcement if it comes, it can't be admin in my opinion. It is most likely to be the canning of the academy. Or Stuber leaving, as he has looked a broken man to me recently. Or both.
Covenants can be and are overturned also it's a regular practice that developers sacrifice a few houses to put facilities in place because they can charge more for the houses they do build. Like I said earlier money talks.
As I understood it the covenant at Oakwell stayed in place until the last surviving member of the family that made it died.
Or until the family are offered a sum to revoke it like I said money talks developers could also take it to court and say its preventing the building of much needed affordable housing and so is against the wider public interest where there's a will there will be a way
All pure conjecture on everyone's part at the moment, old mate, mine more than anyone else. Until we see something to back up the 'devastating' rumours, it can be nothing else. I'm glad Atyke shared his information, though.
Lot of controversy and legal wrangling to be take on for a developer and could take years and even then they could easily lose with a community petition . Nah I think you’re barking up the wrong tree Imo .
