What about if the vulnerable people had been given a vaccination against the I'll effects of you landing on them? Would you still ban baths?

How long after lockdown were they talking about? If they start lifting it in a few weeks, then no, I wouldn’t be doing those things. I’d say no to a few of those anyway, whether coronavirus had ever been a thing or not but it’s not worth making a story out of it.

Never said I'd ban anything. Just that I'd do my bit to reduce risks. So, in context of this thread, I'll take the vaccine when it's my turn because while my mother and wife will have had their jabs by then, its not 100%, and me taking it will reduce the risk of me being ill, or passing anything onto them.

I also disagree with any analogies that compare the management of an infectious disease with accidents.

I'm more than happy to take the vaccine myself when offered.

What about them? Everyone has the right to control over their own body. "Vaccine passports" ok a rational argument can be made. Forcing people to have a chemical put into their body against their will? Really? Its such a staggering suggestion i don't know where to start.

what about the vulnerable members of society, the disabled who can’t take the vaccine despite wanting to?
I’d prioritise them over somebody just being arsey any day of the week.
Why should people be allowed to endanger society as a whole ( by potentially being breeding grounds for more variants) endangering other people’s lives and livelihoods?

When you are suggesting that its either "life or death" with regards to the vaccine, an outlandish statement at best I reserve the right to make outlandish comparisons to scenarios that for the vast majority of the population bear a similar risk to the actual disease we are vaccinating against.

Because it's a basic human right to have control of your own body. While I would like everyone able to take up the vaccine you can't literally force people to take it no matter how much you might like to.
I'm staggered anyone would think it's a acceptable thing to do.

I'm curious as to why those thinking covid vaccines should be enforced against people's wishes but don't feel the same about influenza vaccines. Thousands of families needlessly bury relatives because nobody forced healthy people to have a vaccine. In fact the government cares so little that if you are healthy and want to protect people you have to pay for the privilege and I dont recall any BBS posters campaigning against a policy which surely spelt death for vulnerable people

I never mentioned the phrase "life or death". You decided to talk about people dying in the bath on a thread about Covid vaccines. No idea why.

Sorry but we are never going to agree on this you are looking at it from a human rights point, I am looking at it from the point of view of the vulnerable and disabled. Believe me if you were the parent of somebody like that who could have a reasonably healthy life and freedom that was being threatened by somebody with no good reason.

Well I would for the same reason as I have given for the COVID vaccines.

Don't worry I'm very comfortable with someone disagreeing with me and saying the problem is "I'm looking at it from a human right point view"

I have, you know my history, I had a son who was extremely vulnerable to things like that.I have always advocated people having the flu vaccine and have always been happy to have it made compulsory.

I genuinely can sympathise with that and I do understand the point you are making.

I wasn't aware of the history regarding that. Or if I was I had forgotten in which case I apologise for forgetting about something like that.
I can honestly say though that I've never seen you call for it to be compulsory, I've never seen anyone call for that ever. It's not a dig at you personally, more at society as a whole.

I think that we probably need a much greater campaign to get people to take the flu vaccine annually. Hopefully off the back of this it will be something that become more common.

Sadly lost him 2 years ago this week to pneumonia.
Every winter was a worry and very stressful at times, that's why I probably come across as a bit stroppy on stuff like this.
Its all said with the best of intentions, but its hard to argue rationally sometimes being so emotionally invested.
