A vaccine that doesn't stop you getting it, and doesn't stop you transmitting it, is OK for entry but not a test that shows that you don't have it and therefore cannot possibly transmit it. The trouble is, too many people who've had it will just shrug because they're not impacted by this. People need to have a look back at the start of this thread and how everyone said this situation could never happen in the UK. Boiled frog syndrome in action.
Yes, common sense is enforcing medical procedures on young, healthy people that they neither want nor need. F*ck bodily autonomy as long as you can feel safer, hey?
Wrong yet again. Feel absolutely gutted to have yet another "I told you so" moment. Are you going to keep your promise and oppose it?
As I said before, I am and always have been against that. There should always be a test alternative available. I know what’s been announced today but I can’t see it actually happening. I think they’ve misunderstood the public mood on that one. In fact with this government the fact that they’ve announced it probably makes it less likely to happen.
Glad you're against it. Afraid I don't agree though around it not happening - I think far from it, this is only the start.
No, you're just desperate for something to rebel against. That's how it seems to me anyway. Asking people to help protect other people isn't a conspiracy, it's common decency.
Respecting young healthy people's wishes to exercise bodily autonomy isn't just common decency, it's simply not medical fascism. If you genuinely think this is "no big deal" then I honestly can't help you.
Bodily autonomy, I agree with it as far as sexual and reproductive rights, but I draw the line when selfishness becomes a potential danger to others.
because they risk catching it and spreading it around as its clear that the vaccines are not 100% effective arguing that someone without the vaccine who has tested negative is somehow more dangerous than someone who has no idea if they are carrying as they have been vaccinated is however just dumb - I expect there will be a U turn along.
I've had both jobs. Utterly disgusted by today's announcement. Boris says it's likely more and more aspects of our lives will depend on vaccination. A British government determining your freedoms based on whether you have a medical procedure. Shocking. If you can't see why this is wrong, then I suggest you consider it a bit further. If they get away with this, life will never be the same. And no, this isn't an overreaction. This is very, very serious. You need to think of your children's futures, and their children's and how much you want people like Boris Johnson controlling what they can and cannot do. It's easy to be "I'm alright, Jack" about this, but it's not the time. And remember, it won't stop here. And one day someone else will be in control of these peoples. If you support this, I hope to God it doesn't come back and bite you one day. I won't go any further on this thread and I anticipate the usual government apologists to pipe up. I feel as though these days I've got to apologise to people for wanting to protect people's fundamental freedoms. Boris Johnson, and his cronies, believe it or not, should NOT have the power to determine whether you can go in a private establishment based on your medical status. Shocking.
