Another player prejudged without seeing him play.His form should save a few quid by not having to sign another centre half this January.

 

When Roberts is fit again, with McCarthy showing his worth I really don’t think centre back is somewhere we should be looking at in the slightest; especially with Lopata and Shepherd on the books too.

Do we know when everyone’s contract expires?

 

We have far too many and need to sell 3 or 4 not accumulate more!

 

To be honest when I watched him in the cup games he didn’t look like he had physically got it which is a worry when you’re not particularly fast or strong to start with. His footballing ability wasn’t an issue for me. He’s very comfortable on the ball.

He’s clearly worked very hard to build his fitness up as he looks miles better than what we saw a few months back.

In terms of offering him a new deal. I’d be happy to keep him here as other than one major injury I don’t think he’s the type that picks up regular muscle injuries & he’s comfortable playing in any position in the back 3.

The question is, is he happy as a squad player? And then the other question is are we persisting with a back 3 beyond this season. If we aren’t then we need to move on a couple of centre backs.
