In my opinion, you only have to read the clubs totally contrasting statements to see there was a world of difference between the two departures.

In Winnall's it was short and sharp, and gave the impression that a lit had been growing on that we don't know about.

Connor's on the other hand, was more like a glowing reference, playing up the professionalism that he possesses, and although they would have preferred to keep him, they begrudgingly agreed that the move was too good to turn down.

A snapshot of the league table at any given moment does not quantify a clubs stature. Last season Southampton were above Chelsea for pretty much the who,e season a move from Southampton to Chelsea would still have been a forwards move. Conor is much more likely to play in the premiership with Villa than with us. You'd have to be Brian the Blade to think otherwise.

 

As I said they are a mess on and off the pitch and I'm happy to bet anything he will not play in the premier league with them full stop. His way to the prem was to see out the season and go on a free this summer, but he's clearly not too bothered about integrity or his career

Utter tripe. Do you seriously believe that we are a bigger club than Aston Villa just because we currently have a few more points than them?

I suppose Bournemouth and Burnley are bigger clubs than Newcastle and Leeds?

Of course it's a step up. Turmoil off the pitch or not, it's Aston Villa.

They've no Devine right to promotion, but they'll go up within another season or two.

40k attendances, parachute money, experienced manager in this league and they are signing the right kind of player. Might even happen this season.

I'm sorry, but it's not your call to make whether you think they are a bigger club or not, it's his.

He clearly thinks they are and going by the statement cryne put on facebook he left the club very amicably.

Whatever way you look at it, we got a good fee for someone with 4 months on his contract.

 

It's my call whether I think they're a lovely person for taking the offer, though, however much this board disagrees

 

glavin, redfern, higgnett and now conor hourhine bfc legend for me will be still on about him in another 20 years when I'm 50. Privileged to have watch him for the last 2 and half years.

I'll guarantee you Conor did not force this as agreed to ensure we got what we wanted for him. It is true that he wanted to go when he heard of Villa wanting him but, and here is the difference, he did not tell us in Deecmber that he wanted to go, like Winnall, and then tell us where he was going. You could see where that one was ending. Conor has moved on but with honour, himility and integrity. Winnal didn't.

 

Cant see what Sam could have said to calm the waters or change folks views that he finished up at the piggies. IF he had said what Conor has said it would have got turned on its head. If Hourihane had followed Sam in to the piggery no amount of nice words would have appeased a lot of the fanbase.

A lot whilst upset at Conor`s departure are just grateful he aint gone to the Fowls or he maybe receiving the same crap that some are dishing out at Winnall.

Both players while here received a spell of some poor treatment from some of the fans at games and especially on here. Not always been treated well.

 

Not wrong there. One forces the move to a local rival and has a picture of him leaked on the day Mr Barnsley got his special send off. The other bided his time and played last weekend like any other match taking a booking for the cause and getting stuck in even though he could have been suspended for his new club or even injured. Then we have the generic thank you to the club one released and the beautifully written words by Connor.
