I've taken the position that whoever we sell we sell and until we get to the latter stages of the transfer window and hopefully in a safe financial position, I'll withhold judgement on what the squad is and what our coaching team is. My view of Kane to date is we've spent a lot of money on him and not got anything valuable from him as yet despite his contract being much shorter than when he first signed it. If he comes back and we get a good player, great, if he gets sold to get us out of a mess, great.
It is to us on the outside looking in. But given the issues he was having around form and fitness last Summer, a move out of the spotlight was the best for all concerned. Bringing him back in January could have sent him backwards with no guarantees he comes in to a team low on confidence and ability and hits the ground running. Still a strange one but not quite as bonkers as some make out when you take a step back. He might be a better player for us because of staying at Oxford, than he would have been coming back, or it might make it easier for us to move him on because we've decided long term it's not the right fit. Who knows on that score but we'll find out.
