Tend to agree. Only way I can see them exiting is if they do a Nice, or cut their losses and bail. The latter seems to feel the most likely, which would probably mean we would be in serious trouble at that point.

At Nice, it took circa 5 times "their" purchase price to budge them. They turned down numerous bids before finally accepting the last one.

To buy it - whatever PMG decide they want in return for it.
To run it, based on the existing model - nothing.

In fairness it seems they have quickly realised it was a mistake and have taken steps, which if nothing else is a positive as it suggests they are willing to listen.

Personally I think this whole debate likely brings us back to the same old chestnut - realistically we will struggle to be consistently competitive at Championship level. Ultimately the numbers just don’t work any more. We will punch above our weight from time to time (I think people recognise last season was probably an anomaly) but we will probably spend more time fighting relegation than anything else.

We struggled under Cryne and we’re struggling now. We’ve kept our heads above water by cashing in on players - Stones, Mawson, Roberts, Holgate etc. As soon as we get a sniff of success we’re dismantled. It’s worse now though, as it’s also extended to coaching staff, not just players. Just isn’t sustainable.

A few years ago we had Cryne, Heckingbottom and Roberts leading the Club. Barnsley born and bred. Now look at us. Owners that just see us as another house on their Mickey Mouse monopoly board, a puppet CEO and an U23s coach who’s only job is to create player ROI. Looks likely we will go down with the 2nd worst points total ever.

If you offered me the chance to reform the Club as a community owned co-op playing in League 2, I’d snap your hand off. I’m not sure how many others would though.

    A change is definitely needed.

Fanpower action will eventually beat these charlatans.

We do nothing but stay quiet and the club will eventually be destroyed from top to bottom.

Although it would be nice to have an owner like Patrick Cryne again, i.e. someone who funded the shortfalls when needed with an expectation that he would only seek to recover the funds loaned on Premier League promotion or a sale, I still think it's feasible for the self-sustaining model to work. There are a multitude of sub-optimal decisions that the owners have taken to date which have essentially cost us revenue, one way or another. Even with a couple of outstanding pieces of good fortune thrown their way (avoiding relegation thanks to Wigan, and a totally unexpected play-off campaign, they've basically reset us back to square one, and beyond, within 6 months.

Somewhere out there, there's a way to make the club self-sustainable with relatively minor changes to the overall decision-making model, in the hands of owners who actually want to improve the football club.

Me too if I'm honest. It doesn't even feel like a football club anymore, what happens on the pitch means nothing to Co
I'd definitely take L2 as a community owned co-op. Miles better than just being a player development agency with on field results rendered as meaningless.
    Complete no brainer.....

I get the point but when I first started supporting the reds in August/September 1994 League 2 wasn't what I wanted.

Some on here think we should be pushing for top ten Championship and see that as something of a divine right. Someone needs to tell them it’s not 1999 anymore.

As an aside, I would also snap the proverbial hand off for a community co-op club playing in League 2.
