But if she wants a voice in NATIONAL elections then the solution is simple. Put candidates in enough seats to make victory possible. Until she does that she is merely the head of a very small regional organisation who represents marginally more people than there are in south Yorkshire alone.
Yeah I see where you are coming from but unfortunately the SNP can only ever get 59 (i think) seats. But surely the SNP must be given the same chance as all the other parties. Otherwise democracy goes out the window.
Purely because of gerrymandering. True voting stats Conservatives: 11,334,576 Labour: 9,347,304 Ukip: 3,881,099 Lib Dems: 2,415,862 SNP: 1,454,436 Green party: 1,157,613
No they can't only get 59 seats. They CHOOSE to contest only 59 seats. If they CHOSE to contest more seats then they would be entitled to NATIONAL coverage, until then they are a small regional party representing a small minority of people. Her party chooses to rule themselves out. Can't blame anyone else for that.
They are very relevant to a national election because: Aka stealing votes from labour lib dems greens etc when they can't physically win and locking us in for a generation of Tory rule for nothing but bullish conceit. Shame on the lot of em.
Yeah I agree mate. But the bigger picture is Scotland is a Country and not a region of England. 55million people in England only 5 million people in Scotland. I can see why you feel we should not have a greater share of a voice in the running of GB. But unfortunately life is not always fair. Maybe best that we are left to go it alone as the Union does not seem to work any more.
Just seems bonkers to me that the scots voted to stay in the uk but vote for a party that can't possibly win an election in the uk. Just pointless. They may as well vote conservative
HaHaYeah I must agree. Wonder how many would vote SNP south of the border. That Menai guy would just to get rid of us... LOL
You voted not to, would have been nice for you if you had but "unfortunately life is not always fair" so maybe you should stop trying to wipe your hands of all responsibility and your part in keeping the tories in power.
In fairness though who's fault is it that the SNP chooses to campaign on policies that make them so unelectable in 591 seats that they don't even attempt to contest them?
DTN I voted SNP for Scottish Independence. What happens elsewhere is beyond my control. WE are all pissed off with the Tories but living in Scotland we are almost Tory free.
It's fully in your control by engaging in the national vote in the union your country voted to be a part of.
Yes you do. You know that the SNP sets it's own policies and that the SNP chooses not to a random in enough seats to win the NATIONAL election. Nobody to blame but themselves when they don't get NATIONAL airtime in a NATIONAL election which they choose not to contest NATIONALLY
Sorry but I can only vote for the person and party in which I consider to best look after me and my family. It may sound a bit selfish to you but I think we all do the same.
Right off to bed now. And Super Tyke great speaking to you and a good balanced debate. Obviously we will never agree but I thank you for not resorting to any sort of abuse. We all have our views.
No problem you Scottish tw@t By the way I have no problem with the SNP or with people votng for them etc. It is just their relevance in national debates when they do not contest enough seats which I take issue with. The solution for me would be for them to field candidates in more seats even if they don't not feel they would win as it would then truly make them a national party and not just a regional one. Anyway sleep tight and all that crap
