There’s loads coming out of the pot I don’t agree with but that’s how our country works .
Unfortunately there’s not much we can do about it

I'm a staunch republican but there are some coronation things I like. Coronation st has had its moments, coronation chicken is good in sarnys and the coronation cup is usually worth watching. So there!!

Could say the same about anything organised that utilises public money.
Football as an example more of the population don’t follow football than do but funds are still spent to allow games each week.

Monday is an optional BH. I know quite a few companies saying they are working.

Why are we having a bank holiday on the following Monday when the coronation is on Saturday?

And you ‘chip in’ for those as well. Perhaps they could put in on the side of a double decker bus

They do yes but the general consensus for these this time is because it’s not an ‘official’ (normal one).

Either way, many workers don’t get a say, they’re told it’s a work day and that’s that.

This extra bank holiday is a complete irrelevance to me as a retiree. Three holiday Mondays in a single month is ridiculous.

    It's £250m.

Meh. We've just spunked £400bn on a Covid response and everyone still got it anyway.

Scotland gets £41bn a year of block grant and all their Government can do is bleat about how hard done to they are and spunk the money on motorhomes.

We jizzed £15bn on PPE that was so useless it had to be destroyed.

£250m for something that some folk can actually enjoy - and pays back in stimulus vack into the economy - is nothing. I have zero interest in it but i'm not so mean-spirited that i can't see the benefit in something that provides a bit of enjoyment for some folk. Even if they are a bit odd.

There's far more important stuff to get worked up about. And that applies to pro AND anti Royalists.
I'd rather have a royal figurehead who's into the environment and architecture and has minimal political influence than some of the partisan Republican idiots that are regularly elected around the world.
Until I can trust our politicians to set up a system which guarantees a non political head of state I'll stick with what we've got.
Either way I won't be watching.

When you have been retired a bit longer you will realise that there are no holidays and everyday is an unpaid work day.
