All supermarkets are arseholes but to be fair to Tesco, they are the only one of the big ones that doesn't donate millions to the Tories.

If he's got a mortgage I'm not surprised he's struggling on that, especially if he's the only wage earner. There are ways to save money, especially with sensible supermarket shopping, but there are plenty of unavoidable expenses that are impossible to reduce. I've just been hit with the first big winter electricity bill, plus my council tax. It's going to be a very dry January, and I don't live in a particularly expensive part of the UK.

I’ve been thinking about this and why Tesco’s current practice seems different. I think it’s because you don’t usually see the offers that loyalty scheme members get. You’ll know vaguely that they probably save some money but it’s not so overt as ‘you have to pay twice the price for not having a card’. I can see why that’s in the supermarket’s favour but I can also see why a customer would feel disgruntled and ripped off when it’s so in their face.

Out of interest, does anyone know if Tesco makes you use an app or if you can still use a physical card?

What annoys me about the clubcard prices is that the prices for clubcard members aren't special, they're the standard prices charged in other supermarkets. Just a simple example but a few weeks back pringles were £1.65 in Asda, £1.65 in Morrisons and £3 in Tesco or £1.65 with a clubcard.

That doesn't annoy me for me, I can sign up and get a clubcard. It's no inconvenience really. But a 17 year old who's just been kicked out by their parents can't use Tesco anymore without paying double the price because you have to be 18 to have a clubcard. That's just not right in my opinion. In fact it's discriminatory and I'm surprised it's legal.

There are no Tescos in North & West Leeds. Sainsbury's have Headingley & Hyde Park sown up. Meanwood has Waitrose & Aldi.

Have you tried their Vintage bottled Cider, very much like Westons at £1.49?(500ml) Aldi has the same sort of stuff at the same price.

I've a Clubcard solely because our local supermarket is a Tesco (5 mins walk), we'll shop there at least 3 times a week and at Xmas we have, on average, around £70 to spend in vouchers. Every Little Helps....

There’s a Tesco in Bramley. There’s also lots of Tesco Expresses around.

Photographed and posted those myself! Although to be fair to Mozza's, they have a superb range of craft ales with very good mix and match offers.

Well surely they would have the sense not to go in Tesco then.

Sounds like the early bird ST scheme to me. The discount price is actually the real price and the none discount price is a punishment price.
