Contributing to - but not contributing enough for the huge sums they are now taking out - bleeding the system dry.

I support the scheme - but not for this reason.

They haven't escaped the cuts, free bus passes are not for over 60s anymore. It is linked to pension age so anyone born after 1954 will have to wait until they are 66.

I know I'm paying more pension contributions and having to work later to pay for it though

So as they are unable to contribute anymore, they should be penalised?

Huge sums? Because we are giving them money to look after themselves and have a decent quality of life?

It costs more to means test the people you're referring to than to just give it to all. That's why it's not done in the way you mention.

Because we deserve something back. Most of us started work at 15 and have paid a fortune into the system.

I agree they should get something for contributing - which is what I said in my original post - I've worked 25 years - not had a pay rise in years , more and more NI contributions - don't we all deserve something?
