I see the ECB recommend fining Ballance £8k and 8 months ban regarding the Rafiq case.
He’s actually formally retired from the game and now lives in Zimbabwe so it’ll be hard getting to enforce

 

Biggest concern is the punishment to be handed to YCCC, expected to be announced in June.
Most likely a points deduction and fine. Worst case scenario Headingley losing international cricket next season.

 

Yes there’s a chance of that scenario again but surely it’s unlikely ?
The Club must be in serious financial trouble as it is and that action may be fatal.

Crikey. What a terrible start to the season this is becoming.
Admittedly, the weather cost us victory last time out but two fixtures against the supposed weaker sides in Leicester and Glamorgan are proving anything but.

 

The ball is beating the bat regularly as if we are playing a top side. The club seems to be in free fall at all levels. We’re going to concede a big lead here but who knows - perhaps our bowlers will have them out for 50

Cricket is just bonkers sometimes. They lost the first hour due to rain. Play started at 1200 and Yorkshire just tossed all their remaining wickets away. Then they came back out and bowled ONE over before the umpires said “that’s lunch”. The sun is out, rain is forecast for later yet they go off for a 40 minute break.

 

You can just imagine Bumble sat at home with his slippers and blanket shouting “ Get some cricket played !!”

 

Well given that Rafiq and him used to be big buddies and they admitted 'banter' both ways plus Rafique got away with the anti Jewish stuff by just apologising I'd say he would be in order just ignoring it.

There is a Saudi wanting to buy YCC and take over the debt. As they can afford it I wonder if they would pay enough to keep IPL bound players like Root, Brook and usually Bairstow to stay over here instead.

 

News from the members is that the club have been trying to loan £20m from banks without success.
Also, as you say, there is Saudi Arabian money being flaunted about which, if accepted may be the only option to stop administration.
I’m sure there’ll be more things happening but basically they are in a mess

 

Imagine such a "massive" club playing minor league cricket. It could well happen and the constant cherry picking of our best players for internationals will have had a lot to do with it. But then again that's been going on for years. The speed that it happens is staggering as well - Harry Brook has barely got his whites dirty for Yorkshire yet we may never see him play for the team again. I can see Ben Coad following him down that route, and maybe Finlay Bean as well next season, if not this.
