To contrive a result is almost impossible at this stage to help Middlesex.. I think and stand corrected if clubs forfeit/declare their 1st innings. Then only win points are a available. Which means Yorkshire only need 2 points for promotion. (6 wickets in 110 overs would give us that given we are bowling) and why would sussex take a risk. They need 5 points to guarantee being Champions. Could end up with 0 pts.
one thing I can't find out is what happens if we finished level on points, who would be promoted.

6 down. 2 points. Now 17 in front. MIddlesex now need bonus points. so highly unlikely a contrived game can take place. Sussex are not going to put the title at risk either.

Shame weather had impacted the end of season but that’s the risk.
Nobody can say Yorkshire will be promoted due to rain you only have to look at how many no results due to rain at the start of the season.

To be level on points would involve middlesex winning and a Yorkshire loss, which would mean middlesex have more wins. Also they've beaten Yorkshire, so by right they'd deserve promotion. No idea what the permutation would have both level on points though

I don't think the weather will be the defining point mate. As it's in Yorkshires hands regardless. 10 points and its promotion. A draw now would be enough to guarantee that. But you are right, the northern sides tend to suffer more throughout the season. Beginning or end.
Which probably makes Yorkshire having won most titles by a big margin even sweeter. Than just players born in the county at one time.

It sucks that the game of Cricket owes everything to the weather, and relies on it so much.
So that means teams can see a tournament or a whole season get ruined. Just because of some crummy bad light, or a little bit of rain.

Northants innings wrapped up. Still not underway at Sussex - no idea why as it’s dry and bright, must be a wet outfield.
It’s as good as secured but Yorks just need to stay at the crease as long as possible. No early collapse please.

Middlesex motoring to get batting points early. To no avail I'm opinion. Sussex will not Declare their 1st innings for if yorkshire get the max points. Which they could well do, the way they are going. 160/1. 34 overs. Lyth on 82 not out.
Sussex woul need 4 to be certain with only 3 bowling points available. They would have to score 250 min. when batting.
