268 not out at lunch. Brilliant from James Wharton passing historical milestones all morning. Previous high scores by Sir Geoffrey and Sir Leonard blown away.
They only need another 2 jud now as middlesex only got 1 batting point from a possible 5. It could be all over today. Providing the weather doesn't intervene. Do we reckon. They'll declare or not. I'm guessing. Waiting for a century for Bairstow and triple century for Wharton. I'm not sure what time both teams can declare a draw.
Oops I wrote too soon it appears. my fault. Soz all. And especially the 2 players. May as well declare now so I haven't spoilt it for Johnny.
Just watching whilst in between innings (England v Australia). I'm not sure I'd be happy with how the game has gone. I'm guessing those who turned up would have preferred to see a possible game of it. By declaring this morning. And the chance of another 6 points. (8 points instead of the 2) They pay good money and deserve better. No way going to reach highest total ever.
Not sure. For the few who have turned up, they will be able to say "I was there" when the record books show a highest ever home first class total. And there is an outside chance, with Hill and Thommo in this mood, that the highest ever total just 'might' be reached.
That’s bizarre declaring now, no chance of bowling them out, should have been as soon as Wharton was out.
Disappointing they declared. They needed 160 or so from 35 overs to beat a record that's stood since 1896. Still a top effort to get that many late in the season. Clearly a good wicket. https://www.espncricinfo.com/series...rwickshire-vs-yorkshire-545577/full-scorecard
I'd want the runs. As WG Grace one said to a bowler "They've turned up to watch me bat, not you bowl" (as he put the bails back on after being bowled first ball)
Fisher got the chance to bowl in his final game after the declaration. The game was effectively dead when we got the required bonus point. Yorkshire promoted and Lancashire relegated. Go and celebrate you miserable gits.
I'd have done it first thing this morning. Rather than play the game out that way. Good job we were already up. I might have been tempted to go.
Last thing I wanted was relegation for lancs tbh. With us getting promotion. Main attraction in county cricket. Yorks v lancs. Somehow no other counties have the same attraction for us.
