Is Bristol in Somerset or Gloucestershire ?
The county cricket ground is Gloucestershire’s but someone said it’s in Somerset !
Wiltshire can’t be far away either

South Gloucestershire with bits of it in Somerset and maybe Avon, but not sure if Avon still exists. As you say Wiltshire is not far away. When I lived down there I often went to the Cheltenham College festival, especially if Yorkshire were playing. They also played in Gloucester once in a blue moon but most matches were at the County Ground Bristol.

Pre 1974 in local authority terms Bristol was autonomous as "The City or County of Bristol". With the 1974 Local Government Reform Act Bristol was subsumed within the County of Avon. More recently a unitary authority the City of Bristol deals with local government.

As far as cricket is concerned the County Ground is on the Gloucestershire side of the river Avon so Gloucestershire play there. Back in the 1970s and 80s Somerset played some of their old John Player Sunday League games in Brislington a suburb on the Somerset side of the river.

in 1971 I witnessed a tie,199 runs each, between Gloucestershire and Somerset (captained by Brian Close) at the County Ground.

Our lads will need to get something from the last game against Gloucestershire as Warwickshire are only 15 points behind. 4 days of rain across the country would suit me.

Probably because YCCC is skint and they would prefer Root's ECB contract pay his September wage.

I see next years Ashes schedule has been released and all 5 tests are squeezed into a period of just over 6 weeks with none in August.
The effing Hundred will be forced on any school kids on holiday as there’ll be no proper international games against the old foe !
    I can’t speyk

Being skint (allegedly) doesn't stop them communicating , nor it seems from having the most expensive coaching set up in the County's history.

Good to see Fisher back in the side and in the wickets again (4/17). It's turning out to be a good first session for Yorkshire :)

    Currently 48/4

    Was just looking at score.
Great to see Fisher back who’ll obviously be in the spotlight for England selection next year.

However, 3 of todays team won’t be with the club next season

Sky have elected to televise the Surrey game even when they’re already champions.
Is this the first county game on telly this season ?

Wharton out for a duck off 28 balls as an opener. Nightmare. Should have kept Finlay Bean in the team.

It’s possibly Patterson’s last game for Yorkshire today as a result seems likely by close.
Does anyone know if he’s retiring or maybe having one last season somewhere else ?
Whatever he does, he has been a tremendous servant to our County and he deserves a great send off but, Yorkshire being Yorkshire, will he get one at Headingley ?

Why has he not been offered some coaching role based on his experience of current county players and in deed Yorkshire’s batch of young uns ?

You would think there would be room for him on the coaching staff, or maybe he has an offer to play on somewhere else.
Three wickets taken this morning and one to get. Surely 240 if so is a gettable total

He will probably carry on elsewhere like other oldies like Bresnan did when we binned them. Yorkshire are skint and don't need adding to the coaching staff. We need better value for money so it doesn't pay to offer him a new contract to sit out vast periods of the season when he doesn't play t20.

What a odd league that we might stay up with one win all season. The positions of Gough and Gibson need reviewing and next season looks tougher with so many leaving.
