just listened to that bulletin, I am confused

surely Liquidation means the end of them. Comet went into liquidation hence no more Comet . Allied Carpets Liquidated , no more Allied Carpets. Focus DIY liquidated, No more Focus DIY. Woolworths liquidated , no more Woolworths. So why are they banging on about Coventry City as an on going thing. Could someone explain this please.

I agree in principle as I think Sky have ruined football full stop. However, in this instance, I think that blame can also be laid elsewhere - i.e. at the feet of the owners. I grew up believing that you had to be really clever to run a business or own one. But it patently is not true, not if you intend the stop the business going down the sh1tter.

That club should never have left Highfield Road, it was perfectly adequate for their needs, and reading an article on them a few weeks ago, that went into detail about the whole sorry mess, it was apparent that whoever signed the contract to move into the Ricoh must have had only half a brain. The deal was signed on a long term basis with a rental value that patently was only sustainable if they stayed in the Premier League, something like £2m a year. Because they had been in the top flight at the time for a long time, they never considered the possibility that they ever wouldn't be - great forward planning in action.

Of course, they got relegated pretty much straight after they moved, PL money disappeared, crowds halved, and the rent has been strangling them ever since.

    Imagine a giant food blender.

Comet, Woolworths etc fell into the blender

Coventry are hanging on, with one arm

Well you'd think that. As harsh as it would be on innocent Coventry fans if it was to happen, if they are allowed to get away with it then it's denying a club run the right way further down the ladder a chance to take their place.

They have buyers and a consortium waiting in the wings, but Sisu won't sell. Effectively the supporters are trying to take their club back by killing CCFC. There's a boycott of the Northampton move and plans to start again in the non leagues with an AFC Coventry type setup. I guess they could share with Nuneaton, build again or maybe play at Butts Park (rufc ground). Good luck to them whatever they end up with.

Re: terrible news I hope SKY are pleased

Sky are only to blame in the fact that its their doing along with 20 English clubs which caused the plight we currently see with huge amounts of money for 'tv rights' and an almost zen like campaign to stop anyone from watching sky through a stream, knock off box etc in orde rot maintain premiums.

Once the stupid sums came into play everyone wanted to get their nose in the trough, the suits at the FA and the premier league.

A number of clubs who's history dwarfs recent achievements.

    The players.

    The agents.

    The owners.

They are like vampires sucking the lifeblood out of clubs and leaving discarded husks, shells of what they once were.

Infact the only people in football not getting rich are the fans.

Who are paying more and more to watch the game.
