Madnes to sack Robins. Greater madness to appoint Lampard. Clearly they fancy going back down the football pyramid.
Think it was probably time for a change at Cov I think every manager has a shelf life at a club except Fergie. The timing is weird and even stranger giving it Lampard talk about getting another job on the back of his playing career, lovely bloke by all accounts but a crap manager.
You would think he's drinking in the last chance saloon but Mark Hughes made a long career out of it.
It is very much like re-marrying after a divorce. Hope triumphs over experience. Some of these very good former players are not very good managers. Lampard is good example.
Lampard is a good a manager as Steve Gerrard, but at least Gerrard recognises that he’s not got what it takes to cut it in England and is cashing in whilst he can abroad. Lampard gives me the impression that he still believes he can manage at top end premier league level.
They made a good point on the undr the cosh podcast with Adam Hammill (who loves mark robbins and vice versa by the sounds of things) but they made the point that considering he almost got them to the premier league and almost made an FA cup final that it’s crazy that he’s never been linked with a lower placed premier team - they came to a conclusion that they think it’s his lack of charisma but it does sound like he’s a really good man manager from that podcast.
Got Derby in to the play offs. Got Chelsea in to the Champions League. Kept a badly run Everton in the Premier League.
