Wouldn't put it past them, less pensioners, an unexpected amount of already built houses, less pressure on NHS. I'm surely not the only person who's thought of this? God I've become so untrusting of government and those with influence. Time for a bottle of ale!

I didn't even mean it in such a morbid way. It may well be that they think the numbers of those killed by it would largely be the same whether it's slow or fast and economically ita better to get it over with.
Its hard to interrupt anything from the numbers anyway. It was just a thought I had, but they could never really say if it was the school of thought as it would be very unpopular.

They were generally conscripted - so they didn't have any choice but to be "brave" did they?

Probably just me then, morbid thoughts unfortunately seem to pop into my head much more readily these days.

Spare a thought to the unlucky sods who’s job it is to empty the bins containing all those contaminated tissues.

I thought Mrs Tonjy was being thoughtful by keeping me well fed on toast with various toppings during my self isolation.
Turns out it was the only thing she could fit under the door!!

Yes I guess the "government" are happy with the prospect of losing the people who are most vulnerable to the virus: people like their grandchildren and parents.

Actually only their parents or grandparents.

No children under the age of 10 have died from the virus and it’s extremely low % right up to your 60s and then it skyrockets

What I meant with my post which I have said in the Euros thread is the government have to balance the need to head off a peak in infections that could paralyse the NHS, against excessive economic damage.
The measures been taken in Italy for example would be very hard for a economy to take over a long period of time.

And the question the government will be asking is: “How many people can we afford to let die in order to protect the economy, and when will it look so bad for us that we have to do something?”
