It’s not a National Service - and I have no idea when it stopped being one. I understand what you’re saying but you’re looking at this from the wrong place. As the NHS was taking advantage of computers there was no central strategy because no one had a desire to build one. Looking at this 30 years later and saying ‘well they should have’ is a little disingenuous. I’m not saying that no mistakes were made, but where you see ‘NHS’, the reality is thousands of completely separate organisations; my GP practice doesn’t in any way feel like it’s the same organisation as the North Wales Ambulance Service and nor should it.
Sorry mate I wasn't talking about anything like that, just the organisation of it, being basically many local businesses rather than an integrated national service as the name implies. I know all about waiting times; in 1987 I had severe hay fever and was put forward for a procedure to widen my nasal passages to help me to breathe. The waiting time was 22 months. However, at the time my MP was Edwina Currie (junior health minister and John Major's bit on the side) so I wrote to her to tell her how disgraceful it was. A couple of weeks later I got a letter telling me to report the following Saturday for the op. I was told that she'd put the wind up the bosses at the hospital (Burton on Trent) and they made all the surgeons work Saturdays till the list was eliminated. I like to think that my action helped many hundreds of people. And peed off loads of consultants....
Sounded as they needed a kick up ****for that tbh. But there’s a wealth of difference between a Tory led NHS than labour admin . Not saying for one moment it was perfect as there were many complaints but the overall running is much better Knew plenty who had knee and hip replacements under labour and the list is years long under this lot . Many treatments for lots of various illnesses have been suspended since the Tory Austerity programme and continues even now also the support services from operations and illnesses have been almost decimated . The NHS is almost a shell which you don’t realise untill you come to use it . Most people would be outraged if they knew what had been cut and how much money is leaking mostly to people associated to this govt .
Wasn't some company called isoft part of keeping medical records and aiming to create a national system that coupled everything up?
I didn't say problem I said fault, I was referring to your moan about people finding fault with everything. All this post is doing is outlining the fact they're a few things that are not quite right & maybe a bit confusing.
