Well that dampest of squibs this afternoon put the cherry on what's been a right $hit weekend so far. My dad passed away last night in his care home - thankfully about as peacefully as you can get. In his sleep and hopefully pain-free. Rotten dementia and any number of physical ailments finally got the better of him. 96 years young. Loved him to bits but will never forgive him for inflicting this football club on me. A weird fixation with Chelsea as an 8-yr old was quickly beaten out of me when Dad dragged me to Oakwell in 1972 and that was it. Corner of Ponty & West, then the Ponty with my mates once I was old enough to stay out of bother. Stood with him on the West terrace as he got older, then helped him up the East Stand stairs to see us get to the Prem. He lost a bit of interest in the following years and I had to tell him who the players were, but he's always asked how they've got on. He'd have hated today - can picture him now, shaking his head and saying 'never again!' with a grin on his face...

Love you dad, RIP....

At times life reminds us that football is just a game, it really isn't all that important, family is what really matters. Sincere condolences ♥️
