Credit to Gordon Shepherd for taking the time to write that reply

Thank god for a bit of common sense. I can't say that I agree with all that is happening at the club at the moment but anyone who writes to the Chairman ,Manager or anyone else, deserves to get a response written in the same vein, whether it be politeness, or downright rudeness.

Well said! Wish I had written that myself.

We MUST get behind the team and club for the rest of the season, any negativeness on Saturday will only harm the team.

Like it or lump it, Mr Shepherd is our Chairman and Mr Davey our Manager. I honestly believe that our Chairman has constraints on aquiring players that are 'out of our pocket' My guess is he will find ways together with PC to avoid relegation. Already we have what could be good loan signings and perhaps more to come. For godness sake give the man credit.

I am delighted with SD's appointment when the prospective Managers were listed. I am sure the fans would have been furious with GS if he had appointed Blackwell or Little or Megson, think about it.

Is Gordo operating under the same constraints as Andy Ritchie was? nt

"Shut the **** up"?

Has Gord been giving you etiquette lessons?

I think most of the stuff you write on here is top notch.
I read virtually every single one of your posts.
I also think the one above is utter tripe.

If I get a ranting customer on the phone going mental ... it matters not one bit if I think I'm doing a good job - I just want to make him happy and keep him using my product.
Fair enough - I'm not going to lie down & be walked all over ... but there are ways of doing things ... and I honestly believe that Gord's response was not what is expected of a company Chairman.

Box office.
Experienced Manager.
Blackpool Tower.
Fighter jets.
Airedale Terrier.
Points per game.

I'm sorry - but I will not "shut the **** up" & "enjoy the ride" back to League One ... when I believe we could've avoided it.
I will, on the other hand, "support the team" - 'cos that's what we do ... but being taken for granted & treated with contempt can only drive the people away that you're trying to attract.

Interesting thread though.

Gord isn't a customer service advisor working at ventura though

As a chairman he probably shouldn't have responded at all, he should have left it to the Customer Service department to send out a bland, generic, woolly, waffly statement, isn't that what other businesses do? He's damned if he does, damned if he doesn't. I Just get the feeling some folk treat Shep-baiting as a bit of an opensport but I think it goes too far. However what got me going was when they got the treatment back (in a milder form) they threw their arms in the air and squealed. Double standards and rather unfair and call me old fashioned but I don't think Shep, Cryne or Davey really merit that sort of treatment they have been getting off here. Sorry for saying "shut the **** up" by the way, that was rude too, see, it's catching.

No - he isn't.

I think the companies that Ventura represent could maybe handle the odd disgruntled customer.
A £6m turnover business with fewer than 10,000 regular customers can't really afford to upset too many.

As he has done previously - it just seems Gord is sticking his chest out.
Humility is something he won't be involved with.

As I said - I honestly think Gord has worked wonders with the finances & the fans should be forever in his debt for that.
I also think Cryne is God for what he's done for our club.

However, and this is simply my opinion, it seems to me that Gord has PR issues & simply doesn't have much experience on the football side of things.
Fabulous business man he may be ... but my first instinct, which may be wrong, is that he needs someone alongside him dealing with the sporting side - while he works his magic on the books.

You are old fashioned, by the way.

RE: No - he isn't.

Humility and Business are diametrically opposed - er, usually.

Anyway, Airys point is that he's sick to the molars of the bleating, whining whinge-bags that enjoy getting all negative and seeming to think they are big men as a result.

In truth it's been that way for oh, 6 years or so now and frankly it's beginning to seem a little pointless trying to apply even a modicum of common sense on here now.

The lunatics can have the flipping asylum for all I care.
