We were robbed by the officials again on at least two obvious occasions. Would have been out of sight otherwise. But, they capitalised on mistakes and sneaked a victory. And I feel Moore was very clever playing Paterson deep. Their long ball tactics were spot on. They fought for every ball. Certainly didn’t look the dead and buried and cowardly side that their own fans suggest they are. We were poor throughout. Bad day at the office. Yet could easily - with competent officials - have won regardless. Funny old game. Rest up ready for a very exciting run-in. A chance of the playoffs. Incredible. Wednesday move onto their battle to stay up. 32 points behind us.
I don't believe in karma but I was starting to feel a bit sorry for them, niw after the break I can go back to enjoying their demise again!
big game against Reading coming up, they got Watford away, they might do us a favour and help us get 2nd
Disagree that we were robbed by the officials. They were the better team today. Darren out thought Val tactically and they looked up for the battle more than we did. its one of the v few occasions this season that we got out battled and out thought but credit to them they were better than us. if that happens in a game then we have to recognise that and work hard to improve. I guess Val must be thinking the same. He's said as much in his BBC interview.
I think you'll find he also said we were denied blatant penalties and a perfectly good goal. It is possible to credit both the opposition (which he did, and I've done) and yet still believe the officials cost us the game.
I did see that he said we were denied blatant pens and a good goal and I do understand that one can credit the opposition whilst believing the officials cost us the game. However, I would still disagree that the officials cost us the game / robbed us. In my opinion we weren't robbed today. We were off it. They were on it. I'm guessing that Val won't be blaming the officials in his next team talk. I'm guessing he'll be motivating the lads on how to improve on today.....bad refereeing decisions or not.
I also said exactly that, it was a bad day throughout. But the goal should have stood. That's 1-0 after 20 minutes. We had a blatant penalty waved away five minutes later. I therefore have to be of the mind that we were robbed. I don't see any way that we lose that game, were we 2-0 up on 25 minutes. However, you're right. We'll move on. You can't do anything after the event. Full focus on the future. But as we are discussing today's game, I'm going to stick to my opinion that yes, we weren't quite at it today, that Wednesday were as good as we were, took advantage of mistakes and got a deserved win, if we ignore at least two massive refereeing errors.
......its all about opinions...I agree with you that we weren't at it today and that they got a deserved win, ignoring the refereeing errors. However, in my opinion, altho I hate to say it, Wednesday were better than us. You know that that happens in football. The better team won today. COYR.
I don't think there was much between the sides at all. Even without two huge refereeing mistakes that cost us a goal, and a penalty. I don't think they were the better team. I believe they competed very well against an under-par BFC and took advantage of ours and the officials' mistakes. I hope they lose another nine games and join Wigan next season.
If we ignore the fact that we scored a perfectly good goal, that was disallowed and don't complain about our players getting rugby tackled inside the box, I agree.
It does indeed. I disagree, as already outlined in at least three posts further up. "We were robbed by the officials" is what I said. I stand by that. No.
I hope that they lose another 9 games this season and 46 games next season. However today they beat us cos they were the better team. We were under par. Theye weren't under par. I think this is about agreeing to disagree on how much impact the refereeing had on the game.
A massive impact, as I've said already. I don't think anyone could disagree that both fouls were fouls, and that the goal should have stood. So you've three goals there. They won 2-1. Massive impact. But as I said at the outset, I take nothing away from Wednesday in terms of their application, their tactics and particularly Paterson playing deep etc. Moore got his system spot on, and a performance out of his players. Ignoring the refereeing, they edged a really poor game. I thought we were bang average at best. I think we've said enough on the topic anyway. I'm looking forward to a few days off for the first time in months. Come back refreshed!
We have said enough. Anyway, enjoy your break. You've earned it. Quality job from all of the Comms Team. It's much appreciated by all of us who can't get there.
