What a performance with the bat, the boundaries look ridiculously short though? I reckon I could get a 50 on that… I haven’t been playing for 15 years!

The Windies are going at nearly 15 an over which is more than enough but they’ve lost 4 wickets in the first six overs

    Could be an interesting finish

Well…. that tour is over and, we were disappointing.
    Two points to come from the five games are;
    1. Phil Salt has confirmed his potential and cemented his role as opener.
    2. West Indies are a much better all round side than expected.

Some tinkering is needed with the English bowlers for the World Cup which will hopefully have Wood and Archer in full fitness.

I stayed up to watch that low scoring disappointment. Haven’t we fallen a long way in recent years. Very poor

We certainly have but if you look at us individually, we should be a lot better than we are.
Eight of last nights team were in the final in 2022 which we obviously won, so the fault has to be leadership/ coaching methods.
You could argue that age could be a reason but it hasn’t affected Australia has it !

Australia play as many of their 11 across all three formats as they can regardless of age and travel restrictions. We're too soft for want of a better term.

Too many players performing below where they should be. Harry Brook tossed his wicket away when we know very well how good he can be. Maybe the Windies’ bowling was just too good but the way they struggled to get the boundaries was baffling, considering how good they were in the previous match.

Harry Brook did that in the Ashes too. His knock at Edgbaston was one of the key moments in the series.

Agree with this. Thought we'd push in to win the t20 but it was such an effortless 6 for the Windies to win!

Buttler doesn’t seem to give any inspiration.
He’s not a good captain and you’d think he would’ve learned from seeing Stokes in the red ball game.
After the disaster in the World Cup and the double defeat in the West Indies, should he be retained as captain ?
    I’m not so sure.
What does everyone else think ?

I think we should have a none playing Captain. Get Morgan back in and let the players concentrate on cricket.

We are nowadays … years ago, Broad and Anderson played several ODI’s in fact Anderson still holds the record of number of wickets …I think !

Morgan would play if persuaded to come out of retirement

At one day level there's no reason he couldn't play into his forties.

Unfortunately Butler hasn't proved the most inspirational captain . Maybe Phil Salt? Don't think Morgan would come out of retirement and I'm not keen personally of players being picked who aren't fit, and I include Ben Stokes in that for all he did well with his batting we've missed his bowling!

Yep but he’s obviously decided to spend a bit of his brass whilst still young.

Butler for all his decent knocks hasn't been the most resolute of players throughout his career. At test level he didn't have the discipline needed in his batting or stoicism. These attributes are needed in solid captaincy. The best captains more often than not are disciplined batsmen.

I don’t know if Salt has any experience of captaincy but none of the young uns have.
Brook seems to very level headed and competent so I’ll plump for him

Might slow him down and make him think about his shot selection more. Has the ability to be the best batsmen ever.
