I remember that game, against Middlesboro. But a bloke near us had a radio and was saying to us that Brighton (I think it was) had won so we weren't in the playoffs. We were stood on the Ponty just saying, "what's going on? We aren't in the playoffs" - it was just surreal!

I was there that day too (early 90's?) and wasn't happy. You see young 'uns, fiascos at Oakwell are nowt new!

Anyway, I've always held the tears back but Bradford Home (promotion), Norwich Home (relegation) and Leicester Home on the day we were sweating on the Leeds v Ipswich result I got pretty emotional.

Yes you're right Eaststander it was Brighton scoring that messed it up for us. I was in west stand terracing and all the players had gone up into the directors area. I think Gerry Taggart had the champagne out

I also cried at Cambridge away when I was young because I was so cold. I begged my Dad to take me home but he told me to jump up and down to keep warm. Nice!!

Filled up a bit after Bradford, with YNWA in full swing.
Tears of joy when we beat Liverpool in the Prem. Tears of pride when they played Cocoon at Wembley 2000. The bad times - Norwich, losing at Filbert Street, when we get beat by the Wendies etc - are met more by anger, frustration and what not.
I think I had a little 'moment' on the walk back up Wembley Way after the Ipswich game, as the impending departures of Higgy, Eaden etc sunk in.

Also I remember being in tears after Chris Waddle blazed his spot kick over the West German bar in the 1990 world cup semi

Same here as I really believed we were going to win.

Also had tears in my eyes after the Argentina game when Ince and Batty missed their penalties. Was in a pub on Westgate in Wakefield so it didn't go down well when we are shouting stupid Leeds so and so about Batty, maybe in more colourful terms!

Me too, but I was 8 at the time. I blame my wife-beating childhood idol - Gazza - for crying himself. What a **** player he was...

A tear came to my eye after the FA Cup Semi loss to Cardiff

Mainly as I was gutted for my Dad who has watched Barnsley over 50 years and would have loved to watch us in an FA Cup Final.

Only times I have had tears in my eyes is welling up with joy at promotions or victories at places like anfield

Never even come close to tears at a defeat or relegation and I have seen a few!!! more a feeling of emptiness and dispair and a time to remind myself there are far more important things in life than football - as for bursting into tears because we might drop from 1st to 2nd in the league thats just pathetic

Never cried after losing a match, cried a few times after wins though.
Liverpool away in Premiership, I was so proud, the fans that day got an ovation from the Kop, the team battled like crazy and Lars Leese had a blinder.
Man City in League Cup at Oakwell, so many fans it was unbelievable, great belief in the team and the crowd were superb.
Bradford , of course, pride and a great feeling of relief.
Cardiff when we won the play off final.
Rotherham after Banks hattrick, what a performance that day.

Maybe I am just a big wuss???

    For some reason

And am not sure why, but I had tears in my eyes when Disco hit the crossbar in the play-off final first leg, think it was late on and we were a goal down. Think it's cos I would have been gutted if we'd have not gone up that season, and I had a bad feeling that we wouldn't win at the Galpharm.

Quite the opposite in the return leg, I fell down the stairs when Nardiello scored our third goal.

Filled up a bit after the Bradford match mainly due to thoughts of my late dear father taking me to my first match back in 1950, and wishing he was at Oakwell to witness such a historic occasion.

THE Bradford game, for definate, was sort of holding it all together till one of mi mate's a few further down the ponty turned round and he had tears streaming down his face, just lost it after that. The Oxford game the week after was another time, getting the guard of honour from the Oxford players was a magic moment.
