I don't think anything new was revealed, was it? The question wasn't about the mechanics of the recruitment process either. I don't think the person who asked the question (a bridge-liking former BBS poster if I recognised his voice correctly) got the actual process exactly correct, but the question was asking how many first-choice, second-choice, third-choice players we managed to recruit this season for a particular position. This a difficult question to answer without throwing the players we've recruited under the bus, so we didn't get an answer, unfortunately. I don't think the question revealed anything new though. We've had many descriptions of how recruitment works over the years and the part James Cryne and the recruitment team play in the development and execution of the data model that is used to identify players for a particular requirement. That's only part of the process though. I think we've done pretty well at identifying players in the past. We've had statistically more 'misses' when we haven't followed the recommendations of the model is my understanding. Gauthier described how the process worked during Daniel Stendel's tenure. I'm sure it will have evolved a bit since then, but I'd guess it's not all that different. Here are the notes I made at the time: https://barnsleyfc.org.uk/threads/the-recruitment-process-according-to-gg.275879/ As for James or Jean "fronting up" I don't think they should if they aren't comfortable with it. We get better access to owners/CEOs than any other English league club. I think we maybe take that for granted. With some of the reactions, I wonder if the directors wonder why they bother.
I think there's an entire team for it. We did hire this lad a couple of years ago as part of the recruitment team, he's one of the xG lot. He did have a twitter account which I can't find anymore, but he's mage some public comments about his job, including an interview with SI Games (Football Manager) and a podcast.
