RE: Howard/De Silva in middle = class Championship midfield

Xavi? Iniesta? Cambiasso? That's just a few.

Size doesn't matter. JCR has skill and technique in abundance. He could do a good job in 'the hole' I reckon.

So one good performance from JCR in midfield means we ship out Howard

    Ok.

JCR is a good winger, Howard is a good central midfielder. For some reason Howard gets abused more than any other player. Kozluk, Hassell, Hume and more were worse tonight yet it's Howard who seems to be the scapegoat.

    in all honesty

if he moves to a championship club it is purely down to money which is a kick in the teeth to the club considering how many times we hear him say he loves the club etc

it also says alot about him if he is sulking and not interested maybe somefame has gone to his head and he is people coming the type of footballer Simon jordon was talking about!

Agreed, cant understand where all this Howard bashing is coming from. Anderson and Howard in the middle is a top ten midfield and there can be no doubt about that.

how many times does he give the ball away trying a fancy pass or shoot in positions when it would be better to pass? yes he scores lots of pens and allways manages to get the important goals but if you watch him all game he gives it away and tried too much all the time

How many attacks do his fancy passes and through balls set up and how many free kicks does he win us in dangerous positions not to mention his goals, he was one of the best players in the division last season and we treat him like ****, makes no wonder he wants to leave, what more does he have to do exactly.

il guarantee he gave the ball away more or wasted opportunities with his specualtive efforts than he did score goals or proived assists. we win 2 away games at watford and preston without him in the team we play too much through him and it suffercates us. on his day i'll admit hes very good but he doesnt produce it enough and he isnt consistant enough for the prem and i cant see anyone making an offer from the premiership before january

He might not be be good enough to play prem football week in week out but he is still a quality midfielder in this division and would walk into 90% of its sides, we would be mad to off load him for anything other than a big offer.

i agree but what i dont agree with is him not being commited because we wont up his money or because he cant get a move. definately when he is club captain it cant be doing the rest of the team any good. what he needs to do is knuckle down show hes profesional and put in a good first 10 performances and then see what happens rather than sulk and moan everytime hes interviewd that nobody has offered hi ma new contract

    LOL howard abuse

what about kayode! Fans are on BH back because it seems clear he wants out even though he says he loves the club, fans etc

Last season he was great but on the flip side if he played badly how often did we hear fans moaning.....never, from the sounds he wants out and to a fellow championship side is just for money nothing else!

Has nobody though we are trying JCR there incaae Howard does leave so we can switch Leon and JCR around?

    we don't treat im like

*****, but fans will question a players commitment if they are not putting the effort in no matter how good they are! It's one thing playing badly but lack of effort and work rate is another thing!

Agree- he's not playing the Captain's role

Howard at the moment seems to have a negative effect on the team.

The Captain of the club needs to be the leader, not only of his owngame but the whole squad. He needs to get everyone up for pre-season and the CCC matches, the early games are so important. Everything I've heard suggests he's not up for playing for us anymore and wants a move.

If he was just a player, I'd be happy to let him sulk till someone bought him or his contract was up. But he's ******* Captain. Got to go.

I particularly liked him messing up for the first goal

and then petulantly kicking the ball without so much as a look at another player, never mind a word of encouragement

    I'm telling you

Without a significant change in attidtude, we're ****** if we start with him this season, especially as Captain.

How exactly does he deserve the move???!!!

He's under contract to us. We pay his wages. Every fan that pays into Oakwell pays a part of his wages.

Just because he's scored a few goals for us after we plucked him out of obscurity, moved him from the left flank and gave him an opportunity to make a name for himself does NOT give him the right to leave or in the meantime apply little effort and treat the fans and the club that have made him like ****!

    I'd rather

Give Foster the armband, and play De Silva + Leon/Colace/Togwell in central midfield.
