barnsley have until 3 hours before kick-off today to agree to west broms demands to pay luke steels wages £8000 a week in full or he will return to west brom and not be allowed to play at palace today.
well my understanding was that he'd played very few games so maybe not third choice but reserve anyway considering last season we had a wage cap of 2 grand odd apparently it seems stupid money. No offence to the lad he's clearly very good but 8k a week?
We need to get it paid until the end of the season but Steele has got to realise he won't be getting that if he signs for us. Choice is his.
RE: Can they do that? IIRC, his loan period has already run out - so it's not a matter of WBA recalling him as such.
RE: Davey said yesterday his deal runs out after palace match nt If he plays when west brom says he cant would it be a points deduction.
We Are Just Going To Look Elsewhere No way should he be clearly our highest earner. We will just have to hope Davey can pull another rabbit out of his hat. Ben Foster needs games.........
The club has been really strong about not being held to ransom over unreasonable wage demands. I hope that they will ensure head rules heart over this one as well. The truth is that we should not pay unreasonably for a player, who, by all rumours, was about to be released from his contract at West Brom before signing for us. All we need is competent cover in goal until the end of the season. We know that there are other keepers out there who would give an arm and a leg to play a semi-final at Wembley, especially having seen what it did for Luke Steele's prospects. I wonder if Thomas Sorensen has changed his mind! Sounds heartless, but we cannot be ripped off.
Daily Mirror Tell A Different Story http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/footb...with-barnsley-over-goalkeeper-89520-20351272/ That makes it sound like we are in the wrong. They are paying most of his wage, so he can go and play for someone else. The 8k a week sounds a lot, but at least we will get him for nothing in the summer. Two sides to every story. Nobody really knows what to believe.
RE: Daily Mirror Tell A Different Story If we are getting him for nowt in the summer, and WBA will let him stay with us for the season as long as we pay his wages, my question is why don't WBA just cancel his contract with them and we can negotiate a deal with him as a contract free player and make him a BFC player now, which I believe would be within the rules.
if we agree to 8k per week wouldn't that mean that Kozluk would need to be on 8,001 to be highest earner ? Destroy the wage structure ?
