I'm not sure I understand the animosity towards Dane, he was forced out of the club by our incompetent former chairman who couldn't bear the thought somebody at the club might know what they're doing. After getting us into the playoffs and Forest into the Prem his track record is pretty good, regardless of the outcome of this season.
Agree 100%. Seems to be a thing for us to slate people who leave the Club. One of our better recent CEOs for me, and his departure played a big part in our demise IMO. Essentially pushed out of the Club through no fault of his own. I’d personally have him back over Khaled in a heartbeat.
I agree with what you say about being pushed out etc but I doubt Dane would be too unhappy about the pay packets he received at Forest , he will have landed the job there because of his success at Oakwell so in some respects he is no different than a lot of players who have used us as a stepping stone to go higher in the game , incidentally I also would have him back here but I am just pointing out that he did not do too bad out of the whole thing.
Whilst theres, those that slag DM off, we have a lot to thank him for, let's not forget it was DM himself that tipped the new board off that Conway was only a front for other investors and not the sole Owner as Conway was making out to be.....he was also responsible for a certain DD signing on the dotted line admittedly on loan but who turned out not to be too bad .. personally i thought DM did a decent job especially dealing with the narcissistic Conway character on a regular basis
As far as I can see, not everybody on here is showing animosity towards Dane and criticizing him. I myself have agreed that we've missed him since he left (or maybe he was more or less forced out!), and Id definitely have him back today instead of Khaledo!.
Feel fairly indifferent to Murphy to be honest. We did well while he was CEO, but he also spent a fair amount of money, including while games were behind closed doors. Not a fan of Khaled, but not sure Murphy would do much of a job with an empty bank account. Add to that the nonsense he was giving about Dike, Mowatt’s contract etc… wouldn’t take any pleasure in him getting sacked, but at the same time I wouldn’t be keen on him coming back to us either.
If that’s the case I wonder if there’s a way back here at some point given the changes at board level?
If getting a club back into the premier league in your first season as ceo - after they’d been out of it twenty odd years - is making a Horlicks of it (assuming you meant Horlicks), then I’d love a ceo who does even a competent job… I’d welcome Dane back with open arms to be honest. And to suggest he is responsible for all the signings made will be wide of the mark - I don’t get the animosity towards him. He didn’t break any contract and leave, he was not contracted and was free to do what he wanted. It was the owners who manufactured that situation, not Dane Murphy. One of many monumental balls-ups. As for West Brom, I do wonder if they might be thinking they maybe ought to have retained Val…
I did listen to Simon Jordan on TalkSport this morning and he was talking about CEOs in football. He said they have 100% of the authority and 0% of control to make changes and are nothing more than glorified Sales Directors. Seemed about right.
Whenever I've seen him, he's always appeared to be a glorified *********. In other news, when did we first get a CEO and a chairman? Surely one person could do the one job and more? Maybe I'm harking back to the John Dennis days. EDIT Apparently Mr Richard Head is starred out.
Comes across as a straight talking bloke who knows what he's on about to me, I can see how he might rub some folk up the wrong way though too.
The first CEO was Ben Mansford I think, but I'd imagine there's plenty of overlap in roles between the CEO role and what Don ROwing or Michael Spinx did before that. Of course, we moved to have a head coach rather than a manager, so there was more emphasis I think on the CEO with regard to recruitment.
