No, tell me how he was successful? He was lucky to have a job for nearly three months, loosing 12 games on the bounce. I don't define that as success, do you? Plus the football was *****
Honestly @Tyke_67, if you didn’t enjoy LJ’s reign then that’s absolutely fine, I couldn’t care less. I’ve been involved in enough debates on here to see that people see things differently and that the club can’t please everyone no matter how hard they try. What I will say though is that he definitely did not lose 12 games on the bounce, unless you can of course provide evidence to the contrary at which point I’ll obviously and graciously submit to your superior knowledge of our beloved club.
OK, let's just agree to disagree about the standard of football under his reign. I say it was some of the worst I've ever seen in supporting the Reds for over 40 years, you obviously think otherwise, although I can't see how - you must have a very short memory span. Secondly, yes you are right it wasn't 12 losses on the bounce it was 10 out of 11, including a loss to a non league team Altrincham in that time. Obviously you think that this is a good run to have been on and it seems to show that you consider not winning games to be an important factor in being a football manager/coach. Thirdly, can you stop being so bloody condescending when you post on here. You seem to think that there's only you're opinion is important. Other people have views and opinions as well.
That’s definitely not my intention and if that’s how I come across on the board then I’m mortified. My intention is to simply add to reasoned debate. Don’t get me wrong, I’ll back my corner and if I think I’m right then I’ll argue my point but I’m not a troll or someone that argues for the sake of it. We disagree on LJ, you actually quoted and argued against my initial point on that. It’s fine to disagree, I have no issue with that.
OK mate, let's call it a night. No hard feelings - we just disagree on LJ that's all. [That bloke does make my blood boil though and anyone defending him makes me very irate.]
I'd suggest you discuss this with the 50% of posters on here who think Heckingbottom was absolutely useless. Given that it's generally accepted that the Hourihane team was one of the finest in the last forty years, won a stunning promotion and the EFL cup.......then either Johnson or Heckingbottom has to be classed as a successful manager.
Aye I agreed with MT post until I got to that bit. Took a team capable of finishing in the top 6-8 in the Championship to the bottom of L1.
He didn't lose 10 out of 11 either. The worst run of losses I can manufacture in that season is 9 out of 10 and that's leaving out the JPT wins and FA Cup defeat.
Playing a direct style and using set pieces does not make it 'awful'. There are no right or wrong ways to play in football. Wagner has done an absolutely phenomenal job as have Huddersfield and anyone who tries to claim otherwise are clearly just jealous
