Danny Wilson is NOT an option.... Been there done that. Its got to be Jewell, Boothroyd or Robins....
Oh but he is - a very, very real option He's there to be attracted back to the club - the old magic... Get Redders in for a training coaching capacity... Spine tingling.
That was my last game of that season & I had a season ticket! After seeing the way we played and how good they were it was so depressing. I signed on for a Saturday footy team and didnt go to Oakwell again that season. I saw four games on my season ticket.
It just doesnt feel right...... But if he did bring Redfearn in and maybe Neil Thompson then it could work....
"Been there done that" - so what? It worked quite well last time so why not "Go there, do it again?" I can understand if people feel strongly given the nature of his previous departure (more by the words he used than by the action itself, in many cases) but to say he's not an option just because he's done the job well before? I don't see that as a problem. Quite the opposite, in fact.
'Been there, done that' ... er and it worked very well. but if you say it isn't an option thenit obviously isn't.
My point is.... That it rarely works the second time round. We shouldnt be living in the past like Leeds... Although he wouldnt cost much and the size of the club etc wouldnt put him off.
One serious positive Is that they know all about the club and how good the fans are when we are playing decent football. Nobody on the footballing side has any of that; Kidd, O'Hanlon and the players. We could do to get that Barnsley feeling back. Its felt too detached for quite a while.
They are all risks, Robins only managed lower league, isnt Bothroyd a long ball merchant? Jewell had some good and bad, the attraction with Wilson is the style of play and we have got the makings of a very good team just need someone to get them to click. No guarantees with anyone....
Danny Wilson wont happen anyway.... Cryne will want someone who isn't at a club. So you can all come out your bubbles and think about someone else....
bloody hell psychic as well ... can read the most workings of mr cryne's mind !!!!
Seriously, I understand the compensation issue but maybe that is a cost he is prepared to stand.

RE: bloody hell psychic as well ... can read the most workings of mr cryne's mind !!!! Maybe, just cant see it myself. I honestly think we will end up with Boothroyd
I reckon it he'd do wonders with what we've got now We've got some real quality players but they just haven't been able to gel under Davey. (Not sure why, man management, tactics, lost the dressing room?) but think Danny Wilson would do a good job here. Plus, I was talking to his daughter in Manchester about a month ago on a night out, and she reckons he'd LOVE to come back, very fond memories n all
One serious question about the man of a million clubs. What's he actually achieved anywhere but us? We don't want to be going down the sentimental route.
Think about it... Danny alone of all the contenders will NOT be given the time he needs - he will from Mr Cryne, but he won't from the fans.
Why? Because with him alone, expectations will be massive - and unrealistic - from day one, and if he doesn't get it right those who don't want him back for personal reasons will be on his back straight away.
And in any case, don't you think we've had enough of factions and divisions among the fans? Danny will divide the support like no-one else.
I love the guy to bits but I don't wanna go there.

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Danny Wilson did a great job for us 13 years ago, he did it with a particular bunch of players. He's done nowt since, so why on earth would he do it with this team ? His success as a manager has been pants for the last 12 years so why would he suddenly get success if he came to us ?
For me, no He's a legend for taking us up, if he came back and did crap his reputation will go down hill.
