I'm hoping his approach to games since he came in was simply what he thought we needed to do in order to stay up, 90% of the time it's been very frustrating to watch but you can deny we became much better defensively and we haven't really had any hammerings under him, definitely don't want to be watching this type of football next season though. For all those who want rid of him, who exactly would we get? Would probably only be another 'Keith Hill' type from the lower leagues. I'd like to think that, one day, Mick McCarthy will try his luck with us and maybe if we can back into the Championship with a better foundation than we've had over the last couple of years he might fancy it.
A big budget helps but it certainly isn't the be all and end all (not yet anyway), a lot of the time it's the luck of the draw with the players - some players struggle when they go to another club, some thrive, players attitudes can be wrong, they can have personal problems affecting their fitness and concentration, they might not get on with their team mates. There isn't many clubs who have thrown a whole new squad together over a Summer and gone on to do much though, it seems building over the course of a few years is the way to success but we've never been able to do that.
It's what I thought too, but my old flatmate at uni was an Hartlepool fan, I listened to him moan about Wilson for too long. Got good mates who are blunts who are not the bitter type, who also moaned about Wilson and his style. What they said to expect is exactly what I saw. At Sheff I he started playing decent football, but as he brought in his own players he changed to what sounds like what I've seen under Wilson so far.
Wilson has his chance now to change things hopefully for the better and I include the style of football in that. Persist with the current format and he will be a former manager again by the end of the year.
Don't think it's helped that a lot of the players just aren't up to it though, I'm sure he isn't telling the midfield to give the ball away all the time, to go backwards rather than find a wide man or something or telling Luke Steele to kick the ball out for a throw in. We are just sh*te at doing the simple stuff.
Never said I'm right. Just saying what I think. You can't compare form on the early part if the season to form at the business end, it's completely different, it's a different pressure where you expect the side to pick up when the pressure starts.
If you don't like Danny don't come it's simple. Failure at **** u what keeping them in the okay offs all season. Bring such failure on. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk HD
the team that danny played today were mostley hill/flitcroft players you cant blame him for that ***** wait till he as built his own team then judge him
We were absolutely appalling under Flitcroft this season. Anyone who thinks differently must be on some serious drugs. The only decent game was Reading at home. We started off with a 4 nil hone defeat and got worse from there.
RED, My knee jerk was to reply and really slam into you , however having walked away from it for 15 minutes or so I will now come back to it and reply. You seem to have something against the man, could you explain exactly what it is you do not like about him and his assistants. Now I would also like to suggest other things too. We have been over a good few years now changing managers like pairs of socks. That simply has to stop. Sadly though thanks to SKY TV the likes of the American, Asian, various Arabian/Russian investors you know the sort... we are now witnessing a must win and instant result culture... ask David Moyes about that. I cannot see us attracting a huge overseas investor and really do not want that at all. RED we do need stability and we need that right now. Mr Wilson is as good a manager as we can attract right now, given time he can build a team. He took 2/3 years till he got us into the premier league... his head was called for back then too in his early managerial days. Alex Ferguson cut his teeth at Aberdeen, he went onto Man Utd .. his first few years were not great and his head was called for by the fans... the board stuck with him the rest is spectacular history. I want a manager given a tenure to build a team, I am not that fussed if we never get to the Prem again, championship yes I still believe we can be a decent championship side. BUT I just want a team at Oakwell to be proud of in any of the top 4 tiers of football... I began in the 60's in division 4 supporting them... I will never give up on them till I am carried out feet first in a box. I will of course gripe and whine a bit , but we all do that.
Re: RED, My knee jerk was to reply and really slam into you , however Your post is a sensible one with which has many points to which I agree, however if the product on the field of play continues to be negative then Wilson will always leave himself open to the critics to have a go, so let him have his clear out and recruit his own personnel. I sincerely hope he achieves success but the tactics need to be much more positive next season otherwise the knives will soon be out.
Re: RED, My knee jerk was to reply and really slam into you , however Wilson brought us the success we never more than dreamed of before. He gave us a season to be proud of in the prem too, despite relegation. I do believe that he has then gone on to sustain a career, based on what he did for us. Such career has not been stellar. Nor disastrous. His ramblings when interviewed lack any insight regarding the job in hand. But time only will tell
Neither Norwich or Southampton's catchment areas see them competing to pull the fans in. Out Penistone way I'd venture to suggest that there's probably as many Wednesday or Huddersfield fans than there are Barnsley fans.
