Assuming he's got the talent, he's old enough to be getting involved from the bench.

When he gets sacked, I would love to see him go full scorched earth and take Mladen down with him. He has every right to IMO.

He says Dyer is raw, he will remain raw if he doesn't get played poor words from a not very good coach

I don’t think we’ve actually been that bad this year - if we’d finished more chances we created we’d have thoroughly battered some teams.

Our defending has often been lacking, as has our ability to hold on to a lead - both I think could be much improved through the involvement of a specialist defensive coach. Would maybe be good to ask Bobby Hassell to spend some time with the first team alongside his youth responsibilities.

Agree it would be better to build a player and their confidence up rather than to talk them down. Thinking about himself and his own reputation more than what the youngsters in the squad need to step on.

A dispute with your former employer is detrimental to getting hired for your next job in most professions. Put yourself in the shoes the of next Director of Football looking to recruit - do you want the person liable to slag you off when they get the boot?

I commented on another thread last night that I was watching a 17-year old getting her 3rd cap for the USWNT, and scoring a screamer of a goal. We also see youngsters turning out in the PL, La Liga, etc. However, we have 20/21 year old players who are apparently too raw.
This is not just an issue with DC. We’ve had a succession of managers reluctant to use Academy players, except for peripheral competitions, to meet targets set by the board.
We definitely have problems developing and progressing talent through the ranks.
    Stones is a distant memory.

Bobby needs to concentrate on getting a player into the first team before he's called a specialist at anything.

The quote from Clarke that surprised me was the "I came into the club with my eyes open, if I'm honest with you. I said in the summer I thought it would take about three windows."

This was a side that finished in the playoffs. Yes, he'd lost Cole, McAtee, Kane and Williams but he gained DKD, Nwakali and others plus the whole squad got one more year experienced. He's not having to play wing backs and young lads plucked from non league at centre back like Collins had to. To think he needed a complete rebuild and couldn't work with who he had got seems a bit defeatist. I'm not saying the side hasn't weakened. But this squad should be much higher than they are.

I think he'll be gone if we lose today,I don't think it's his fault but we need to try and have a good finish or season tickets are gonna be well down,I think.conner has let us down not playing, his passing, free kicks, stopping players from panicking,I feel like he's conned us,player Coa h when he first signed, season started a coach,I'd get rid of him aswell.if he took over got us to championship nxt year if a bigger club came in he'd be off,he wouldn't even consider learning his coaching with us,I hope long haul fails aswell, come on Darren prove the doubters wrong.coyr

he really knows how to build up a players confidence by saying theyre not good enough, what he should be saying is well if these first teamers continue to fire blanks week after week after week he will get a chance and he needs to be ready to take it

not be long before stones retires and yet in all that time since not one notable player’s come through the academy. Honestly don’t see the point of it anymore. Just a drain on finances with little to no return and could fund some player purchases each season instead.

Quite startling how quickly the support for Darrell has evaporated.

The issue lies with player recruitment for me, not planning for the loss of Cole and McAtee (both which were known well in advance) has really hurt the team’s ability to win games. The xg for the season is the highest in the league, we play far more attacking football, admittedly our defence is pretty porous but the fundamental issue is the lack of a genuine centre forward.

The club know this, the fans know this. Darrell may take the fall but the blame lies squarely at the door of the recruitment team.

Analysts may identify the player but selling the club, structuring the contract and getting a player in through the door is way beyond a spreadsheet jockey.

Have TBH and think you’re wrong about being defeatist, I’d say he was being realistic.

When he joined we had lost the spine of the team which all needed replacing. I think what gets underestimated when players leave are what they bring to the club and in those that left not only did we lose the spine we also left the most senior/experienced players in Kane & Williams.

None of those you mentioned were at the club when he joined, he had now had 2 of his 3 so by his own admission he had nowhere to hide after the Summer.
I do agree though with this squad we should be higher.

Agree with all this but would add about planning for loss of Senior players too.
Only thing I can think of is everyone just crossed their fingers like a last fling of the dice and hoped to get promoted last year and some of those would have stayed.
