RE: Well Probably Sheffield Wednesday Can't be Rotherham though - we've only played them twice in my lifetime and that will be the same for a lot of Barnsley fans I'd put Huddersfield above them tbh
RE: They allus were He's not in pain Lenny boy, and he don't cry and blubber like you do. Took your time getting on here after the Morgan disgrace, feeling a little guilty? or just keeping your distance for fear of a mauling?
Wrong The Barnsley fans I know never gave a stuff about Blades in recent years until THAT match. Mainly because your record against us over the previous 10 years was laughable, and your support at Oakwell was non-existant. Wednesday, Rotherham, Donny brought alot more fans than Blades (until last season). Wolves, Burnley, Norwich have all filled that end long before Blades ever did. I consider Barnsley's rivalry to be stronger with Wednesday & Donny. The only reason I even contemplate a rivalry with Sheff Utd is after the Morgan game.
Personally Ive never minded Rotherham i even got chucked out of Millmoor the game they drew with Swansea & both got promoted. Ive hated Grimsby more than Rotherham
RE: Wrong You obviously don't go to many games if you believe that. The reality is Sheffield United's attendance is twice that of Barnsley. Sheffield Wednesday attract nearly as many as United, hence our combined average this year is 50,000 whereas you struggle to pull in 12,000. This is despite the fact that 3 professional clubs play in Sheffield which has a population of 510,000 and Barnsley with a population of 225,000 get a mere 11,500. Incidentally our gate at Jokewell was 2,000 higher than Wednesday despite the fact that 1/3 of their support is from the Barnsley area. Incidentally what is your record against us in the last 10 years, I know we've taken 12 points in our last 4 games and we were in different leagues before that.
1/2 of blunts "supporters" come from rovrum / chesterfield No doubt they'll **** off again once the money is gone.
Rubbish blade Hudders and Bradford Maybe when they were in the same league? More Leeds and Hudds, Donny don't give a **** about Rotherham. My mates have season tickets at Old trafford i sometimes go along with them if were away or no game and they still sing the anti Leeds songs. They have banter with Liverpool, they now have an increasing rivalry with City who they call the Stockports, if City begin to challenge for honours this will develop into the fiercest rivalry in the Prem.
RE: Wrong Oh dear, which bit of my post rattled your cage? Populations? One third of Wednesday fans live in Barnsley?? Put it this way... (and yes I have been to many, many matches including every Barnsley - Blades & return fixture for as long as i can remember)..... Owls have CONSISTENTLY brought more fans to Oakwell than Blades. Last year was the only exception. My Blades supporting friend (from Sheffield!) has a 21 year old son who, until the 1-0 win o Blades (Killgallon) had never seen Blades beat Barnsley. I'm not going to drag up fixtures, but you know we have had our lions share of victories. Sorry but our rivalry with your lot stems from Morgan.... nothing more, nothing less. I remember my brother saying something about a rivalry in the late 70s but that was before my time.... sorry to disappoint but up until last season, Blades would have been well behind Wednesday & Leeds & to a certain extent Rotherham in terms of rivalry. Seems you have a one man rivalry with us though.
My mate's a Donny fan And he couldn't give a toss about us. That lot still have it in for Scnuthorpe for some reason.
RE: Well Well Mr Blunt, 75% of your ill informed facts are totally untrue, which leaves me to question as to whether you are a real football fan. On the rivalry issue, deluded Blunts fans think of Leeds as a main rival. Leeds fans in reality don't give a toss about the Blunts and just saw them as feeder club for them in the 70's. Oh and Huddersfield see Leeds as their main rivals, not Bratfut as you stated.First rule of management...allas get your facts straight!
Just out of interest why do people feel its a good thing to have another set of supporters that despise you the most??? Seems a slightly bizarre case of "oneupmanship" to me.
RE: They were when I was a nip I went to Wath Comp (left 1982) and the big rivalry there was Barnsley v Rotherham. I can remember heated arguments about who was better - Macca or Big Stan. We even resorted to bringing in press cuttings showing one outjumping the other. Great times.
RE: Wrong Incidentally our gate at Jokewell was 2,000 higher than Wednesday despite the fact that 1/3 of their support is from the Barnsley area. not something to be proud of as their game was on a tuesday night!!!!!
