    99/00 season

Sheff U averaged 13,718 finished 16th, Barnsley averaged 15,412 and finished 4th. Thats when our Premiership hangers on were still aorund. The average attendance of the whole of the league was a few thousnad down on what it was now. Oh aye massive.

    RE: Rubbish blade

No he's the grandson of Mark Jones the Barnsley lad who died in the Munich Disaster, as part of the Munich families they get season tickets and have been watching them years, my mate was there during the Atkinson years when Man U were mid table, so no not really a glory hunter.

Well you're only quoting what Shafton Red as you've quoted his spelling error. I'd doubt you even heard the programme but let's say you did - who's to say that you heard or inferred correctly. I took what he said at face value that he considered Rotherham United to be Barnsley's biggest rivals which is a load of B*ll*cks.

he did say he goes "sometimes, when we're away or not got a match on"
How is that glory hunting? Didn't hear him professing his love for Man Utd at any point.
Perhaps i shouldn't watch other football matches on tv either? (blagger)

RE: Does James G know anything about Barnsley Football Club?

the quote might not be totally accurate but the fact is Rotherham used to be our biggest rivals and what he said has I am sure been quoted out of context by you, because I have heard similar questions put to Gough(he was interviewed b4 this seasons Fowls game) and a very similar answer to what Shafton quoted

So the division we were in during the 80's has no bearing on where we 'should' be now ?</p>

I listened to that part and l listen on the way home from work

every night and he's proud to be Barnsley, after reading on here some of the abuse "Spurs this Spurs that etc..." what a load of crap, his team is Barnsley he states this quite often. A lot of other people have a second team they like to follow so what. If Goughy had not been a cricketer he would have been in the Ponty with his mates every Saturday. Adrian Durham talks ballax though, who does he think Peterbro' are? Real Madrid?

He has a habit of disappearing when he gets found out. Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Well I do try. Just sat here now looking at my season ticket - gives me an enormous sense of pride to know that I'm contributing towards the club. I can send you one of the letters the club sent me asking me to renew if you like then you could cross my name out and write yours on - ya know pretend that you are of some/any importance to them.

I look forward to your next "joke".

    Shown up

As the excellent posts in this thread prove. All you were interested in was to have a dig at Darren Gough - totally unjustifiably as well. Same with anyone from Barnsley who has had some success - there are always folk who want to have a go at them for some reason (jealousy perhaps or maybe inadequacy).
