From the stories I was told he was basically offered the job or would have been offered it. As soon as it became clear he was getting the WBA gig we took our interest elsewhere.
I once spoke to him - really nice fella. But it’s a NO from me. He dosen’t fit the Barnsley system of playing.
He nearly signed for us in 1997 before the transfer cut off in April. I was there when he visited with his agent at the training ground, and some old idiots were throwing racial terms around like a scene from Rising Damp. Big Eric and Danny wasn't impressed and for a good few weeks after that fans had to stand behind the wire fencing.
Moore plays with wide men and folk in attacking the box. The kind that scores you goals and helps win games. Nudge we've got plenty of lads who can play wide and Cauley who's being used incorrectly. Maybe he's just the guy we need who will use the players properly. You can still press in a 4-4-2 you can press in any formation it's just knowing when is the right time.
Id be very happy with Moore as out manager - more realistic chance than Howe but I still am not convinced - love to be wrong on that mind
My home port is Donny so would love it, will be making my own coffee though for a few months if this happens. I'm not into Baldrick cappuccino's!
Manager ... or coach ? Until someone explains to us all the subtle difference between the two then I won't offer my opinion. It's a great idea, as would Eddie Howe, but do they want to come as yes men with their job spec stating, more or less, that they will do as they are told? I'm sure managers have more say than coaches and I can't see our 80%ers playing second fiddle to a bossy manager.
We had a young African lad over for a trial in 1995/96 all I'll say is he was physically abused not far from where he was staying. At times the older lot who came to training every day really didn't sell the club. Always griping at players or making off the cuff remarks to Colin Walker. They never said anything to big Mal and Eric. Shirty once had a less than friendly word with em.
