    The option to buy is apparently $20 million for 80% of ‘his sporting rights’. Not sure if that means we’d have to cut his arm off and ship it back to Florida, but it seems unlikely either way.

    Is anyone else slightly concerned about the 'international clearance' part?

    It's quite difficult to get FA Endorsement for a work permit for MLS players as the league is only ranked in the 4th band of 6 in the criteria.

    The one senior cap might be enough but usually you're looking at players with a handful who get the green light? Even then, that was a friendly which often can't count.

    Orlando to Barnsley in winter with Covid-19 lurking and bugger all to do. Fair play to the lad.

    There's some comparisons to Lukaku which you can see. Big strong lad with a decent touch too. Here's hoping he doesn't strain his neck. ;)

    It says conditional recall. Who knows what that condition is. Could be when their season starts, could be to do with players they have available, could be to do with how he performs here.

    There's almost complete freedom of information in the States regarding Sports finances. Contracts and wages are published, as are transfer fees, although they call them buy-outs. If it says $20 million it will be. And at that price we won't be buying him. Not that I expect us to, but us saying we have an option to buy might well be true in theory, but it's never going to happen in practice and is disingenuous in my humble opinion. I see no issue with us getting this guy on loan. Hopefully he'll improve us significantly. Personally I would have just announced the loan deal. They're setting themselves up for a fall.

    But according to sources he’s only on £3.5k a week, IF true or close you’d think highly unlikely a player on those wages would have a 20 million clause

    Yep Ian, although were Barnsley folk born and bred two of our best friends (for 35 years) lived in Dudhope street and were born in Dundee .Great till we all get hammered then language becomes an issue...(our 1st visit up there was fab and the Arabs were fascinated when I talked about the Reds in a broad Barnsley accent, great times tho
