You thought we might make the top six this season?

Chuffin' ell. Think you need to manage your expectations.

    Decent call

Though I would have said the reported transfer fees are not too far off each other and I'll reiterate just in case anybody missed it last time that nobody on here has got the slightest clue as to the details of the transfer deals i.e. how much a player has (or will) cost, what sell on clauses are accepted, performance based payments, appearance based payments blah blah blah.

Would you have said that had Hume have netted say 12 goals (which he was on target to do) this season he would have been worth the reported 1.2m?

It would be interesting to know if we are covered by insurance for either fee's / wages etc>>

In any case thanks for the meaningful contribution

I'd say that 12 goals in an entire season from a £1.2m striker that started pretty much every game is a poor return on the investment to be honest.

Then again I don't care if a player cost £1m or came on a free transfer, once they're at the club their value is the same and their job is the same. ie just because oddjob cost 200k and Hume £1.2m doesn't mean that i only expect odejayi to get one 6th of the goals that hume does.

As for paterson and bothroyd, they were the only players that I could think of that changed hands for decent money last year and had good records. No idea if either would have been better for us.

Hume is the very definition of....

a scorer of good goals and not a good goal scorer. Worth more than Howard? Nah, Davey spent at least 700,000 too much I'm afraid.
