Yep If Howard's out of contract at the end of this season we'll get nothing near 750k for him. I would like to be positive but I just don't trust the board.
Why do you always write drivel and nonsense? £750K? Right, like McIndoe who still had 18 months left on his contract? Howard is out of contract at the end of the season. £200K is realistic. Can't see us letting anyone go? Err McIndoe, Burns. Learn from the past or shut up with your nonsense.
Why did Shepherd say he had managed to squeeze a little bit more out of Wolves then if the price was pre-determined?Was the clause related to price? Or was it maybe related to us being in a relegation spot?
did he? all i heard was that he had a clause in his contract in which a pre-determined price was met then he could leave. where did gordon sheps say that about squeezing more out of wolves?
There was a figure in his contract, which if offered by another club meant BFC were obliged to let McIndoe talk to them as I understood it.</p> From that point on, if McIndoe wanted to go, what realistically could the club do ? And I mentioned realistically as sticking him in the reserves for 18 months would be plain daft. Seeing as he decided to stop playing for Donny when he fell out with them.</p> Now if Wolves wanted him now, the only bargaining tool BFC had was the fact that to get him immediately they would then have to pay a bit more than the 'trigger' figure.</p>
RE: Speaking of contracts Paul Reid is payed the same amount as the person with the highest weekly wage at the club. Bet he was gutted to see Mcindoe go.
But if the trigger was £250K, which everyone is saying is very low thenyou would expect another club to trigger it he he was playing half-decent. The only way he would have been able to see through his contract would have beenif he was crap. That would make the clause just plain stupid. Just another thing that sits uneasily with me.</p> I couldn't find the bit about squeezing a bit more out of Wolves but I'm sure I remember reading it somewhere.</p> </p>
RE: But if the trigger was £250K, which everyone is saying He wouldnt sign the contract without the 250k release clause being there.
I was offered more lucrative contracts elsewhere. Is what you say true? Reid's signing interview.</p> http://www.barnsleyfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/InsideOakwellDetail/0,,10309~837714,00.html</p> </p>
RE: thatst he most rediculous clause ever its like signing Ronaldino with a clause that says he can leave if anyone offers £10m. We should have told him to **** off or at least tried to make it 500k.
That's what I don't understand. Everyone seems to have assumed that is what the clause is, but I don't think the club has ever confirmed it. Shepherd's statement:</p> 'Unfortunately, he had a clause in his contract which facilitated a transfer should he wish to join another club. When we signed Michael from Doncaster we would have preferred not to have accepted such a clause, but without it, there would have been no deal. We will make a profit on the transfer, albeit a modest one, but the clause was there and there was nothing we could do about it.'</p>
I can't see how the club would expect to hang on to him then. Even Windass has a £500K trigger in his contract and he's nearly 38!
RE: Its the most pathetic showcase of lack of ambition i've ever witnessed. why sign a player if he's just gonna leave in a few months. the only way he was ever gona stay ws if he broke his leg or was crap. Shep should've had more balls and said 500k or stay in Donny.
I must say I would rather have kept Shuker knowing he would be here for the season that McIndoe with that release clause in. Cue Shuker abuse.
Just signed a new contract a couple of months ago. Clause is a result of him having a bit of a strop at not being told of a bid before it was rejected. Hence his loan move to Hull to raise some cash rather than a permanent move. Wednesday to sign Jermaine Johnsonfrom City too, turned down£250K but Wednesday have offered substantially more which has triggered his release clause. That's for a League 1 player signed on a free. Could well see Bradford relegated though, two massive losses to the team and a big gamble by the chairman to raise a bit of cash to get to the end of the season. They are brassic.
