RE: I'd take an ageing Kevin Phillips over anyone else we could realistically recruit

I'm more concerned for the left side of the team than I am for the strikers. No one knows how Mounir El Haimour is going to work out, or even what position is his best, but to start the season with just one naturally left sided player in the squad who has no experience of English football is ridiculously stupid in my opinion.

    Tend to agree

a solid left footed left back would be a good move. although Davey may have in mind a 4-3-3 formation this season.

    Now isn't it strange?

I thought there was never any comment until a signing has been made. I wonder how many others we have just missed out on? David Mannix? Mark Gower?

Agree there, Phillips would have been a great signing, it also could have increased our season ticket sales bringing a player of his stature into the club. We also need, has you say a left full back with Championship experience, but lets hope Davey as found what we need in the French bloke, only time will tell. :)

Not strange at all. We don't comment until a signing has been made, so that we don't get gazumped by another club. Not much point keeping quiet once the target has gone elsewhere.

    That's a very good question.

We've certainly appeared to have raised the bar when it comes to delving into the market for new strikers.

Older than Moore and he is being labelled as too old by many.

more than a grain of truth in them rumours then, this is the level of ambition at Barnsley there are good times ahead.

Anyone know how much he'll be getting paid...

Because i get the impression that we offered more than Birmingham because SD say's that he joined Brimingham and it showed that he wasn't after the money. i read somewhere, on here i think, that they were offering 20k a week. we don't have that kind of money do we, and what happened to the 5k wage cap??? (nodding2fingers)
