its 26 points difference and if we win next game to take davey upto his 100 then that would be 23 of course
Yup Andy Payton scored the other goal in the 2-0 win, Mick Buxton's (former Barnsley coach in the early seventies) last in charge of Sunderland.
Actually 40 yarder? Or one of them that turns out to be about 25 when you see the video? I could have sworn that Barnard was about 35 yards out against Huddersfield at first.
I said established mid table club one bad season does not disprove that. I stick to my basic case that niether the managers nor the position / status of the club / climate of football are in any way shape or form comparable.
Stahlrost being told to get over himself by Jay.
Next week mrx tells Laura to stop causing trouble.

Seeing as Sheridan & Bullock Never played in the league under Anderson, no. Especially when compared to the likes of Butler, Bishop, Taggart, Fleming, Davis, Redfearn, O'Connell & Rammell who were all brought to the club by Machin.
Yee hah! Even I remember that! Was sat right behind it in the stand which was flapping about in the wind. Do you want a (pint) sometime. I probably owe you one
RE: Actually 40 yarder? He was near the touch line by the EastStand, not far inside inside the Sunderland half, with us shooting towards the kop (north stand) and he just put his foot through it. The wind got hold of it and it swirled into the top corner. I wouldn't say my memory is good enough to give you the exact yardage, it's almost 15 years ago after all, but it was a long way out.
Agreed No money, no wealthy benefactor, half a ground, no fan base, squad that had nearly gone down the year before, no new signings.
Sorry mate It's you that seems to be making some mistakes here, by making things very simplistic. It's difficult to compare two eras in football, because of the changes that are constantly happening to the game, both on and off the pitch. The changes, financially, that have occured from the time that Wilson was first made manager to the time that Davey was given the job were immense. We now have 7 or 8 teams, if not more, who have a vast amount more money to spend than us, thanks to the effect of having been in the Premiership and the parachute payments. This wasn't as big a factor in Wilson's day. This therefore puts Davey at a disadvantage having to try to get points from these big teams. Also, Wilson was first team coach the season before he was made manager, so you can argue that he had much more of an influence on the team before he was appointed manager than Davey had on his before he took over (when he came out of the academy). Wilson will have worked with the players, played with the players, had some influence on who was brought into or remained at the club, etc. He also had the full pre-season to further prepare his squad. Davey didn't have any of these luxuries and picked up a losing team who were playing poorly, with no confidence and who were heading in only one direction, with only days to prepare before a busy fixture schedule. On top of this, we had a very poor squad compared to the rest of the division and, allegedly, a drink culture, which was causing further problems. You can argue that Wilson didn't bring anybody in, but this could be because we had already assembled a decent squad for him. Let's not forget that when he did bring players in, the first few he brought in were Peter Shirtliff, Dave Regis and Laurens Ten Heuvel. Davey, on the other hand, inherited a poor team that he had no influence over. This is demonstrated by the fact that 100 games later we only have a couple of Ritchie's players left. If you can honestly say that you would have preferred any of Ritchie's players over who we will be putting out on Saturday, you're mad. And yes I do include Howard in that. So you can't just pick out statistics to prove your point, because just using statistics could probably prove that Gareth Williams was the best striker we ever had and Trevor Aylott was one of the worst. Wilson proved to be an excellent manager for Barnsley at the time. Davey is doing a good job now and has created a good foundation to build on. Whether Davey would have done a good job in Wilson's shoes and vice versa, if we could travel in time and swap them round, who knows. And who cares?
"Money is tight because of the enforced ground improvements" Said Danny prior to his first game in charge.
inflation and it is a totally different league compared to the one we got out of into the premiership.
