I see this as dead-set confirmation that Simon will start next season
Patrick is giving him the chance to put together some of his 'dossiers' and present a plan for next season. Simon is top notch at this stuff. Patrick is saying he has to sell himself to the fans.... he'll do this.
If Patrickhad decidedto ice Simon he wouldn't be talking like this.
I'd take another season with Simon and Inote a swing to support him now that we are safe again.

i like it - PC is seeing if Davey has the balls to do this This is exactly what we need - Davey to come clean with his intentions and not to run a closed shop. Either PC knows Davey will not manage this and will walk or it is to get the fans back on side. I think a clear the air presentation with the fans would go down well if he could manage it.
No chance. The way he completely ignored hundreds of fans who had been queuing hours for Liverpool tickets was disgusting. He's never been a fan friendly manager.
Fancy Patrick Saying That About The Manager..... on the day that Davey will be at the player of the year dinner (chinny) (chinny) (chinny) Should make tonight interesting for those going.
Looking at the wording of Cryne's comments "He has to make a persuasive case to me why he should stay in charge", indicates to me that the decision to let Simon go has been made, in other words he is saying "give me a good reason not to sack you Simon, cos you deserve it". It's like giving the upstarts in the Apprentice chance to blame everyone else and squirm.
bob on there mate... ...this to me confirms that he will get another swing at it...but it will be his last chance.
Hancock has already gone this week so I guess we'll have to wait and see until after this weeks task ( say nice things about the fans in public ) who will go......
Listening to PC on Radio Sheffield.i would say hes a gonner. Must have some idea of type of manager he would replace SD with.
Just get shut 2.5 years to justify his job and the general consensus these days is that he clearly hasn't. We keep him on at our peril.
Personally I don't like this approach...... ....it smacks of Cryne using 'new age' business speak in an attempt to pacify the Davey outters. Cryne sits at the top of the tree in regards to the dealings of Barnsley Football Club - he should have set Davey's goals out before he offered him the job. If he has succeeded in whatever those goals were then keep him on, if he hasn't then Davey has failed to deliever and get therefore get rid. What I don't like is Cryne putting the emphasis on Davey having to justify his job after he has just finished a season in what is considered a results orientated industry - surely his league postion is a good indication of his justification for keeping the job. Cryne should set out the criteria of what he believes is success for his manager to deliever - it shouldn't be the other way around and if Davey meets these targets then he will have his answer. Personally, I feel this statement gives the impression of poor leadership in our club. I have had a lot of time for Cryne but this is just a poor 'spin' on his part.
Doesn't sound good for Davey But if he does go and we get someone like John Sheridan in, I think Cryne will have made a HUGE mistake. If we can't get someone with decent Championship experience in, we've got to keep him.
RE: Personally I don't like this approach...... I agree, PC should be telling what is expected, not asking what SD plans he has to deliver. I get the impression that the Season Ticket holders are left the feeling that the Board are 'wavering' and unable to make their minds up. Does'nt enthuse me to spend another 2 grand on tickets until I am clear what I can expect.
jonn sherridan ????/ why do folk want him .ex dee dar, very little experiance, no championship experiance
What do we want? 1) Continue with a manager who knows the players, has made mistakes, possibly learning from them, knows he must do better- and may well improve, or
2) Start with a new one, who does not know the players, will have to startafresh and may be no better.
And whilst we're thinking about that, let's think also about the enless pots of money there are throwing about BFC, a waiting list of potential top class managers queueing to get through the door, and at this contractually barren time of the year, endless new players eager to sign on the dotted line.

Wasn't going to say anything but it looks that way to me too.
Coupled with theST discountit's not looking good.

Laying the ground work... ...for the inevitable "We had a big heart-to-heart and Simon convinced me he's the right man for the job. He told me where he expects us to be in 12 months time and how he will get us there, and those plans fit in with my own ambitions for the club. I expect improvements in our league position and Simon knows he has to deliver."
