    Recent reports stating that CD Tenerife forward Nino has turned down an offer to join Barnsley appear not to be accurate. In an interview Nino is said to have rejected a move in favour of staying Tenerife where his family are happy. The story indicated that Barnsley had offered E1.4 million for his services.

    It would appear that the club have in fact not made any approach for Nino and have not talked to CD Tenerife or any representatives in regard to this player. It is possible that the player himself is angling for a move and the story would be a way of alerting other clubs that may have in interest in the striker.

    With the transfer window 19 days old speculation has been intense on who Barnsley might bring to the club with various players from Spain being linked.
