    He'd already forked out well over half a million on Mossto, Odejayi and Muller before then. He certainly had more backing than any manager since financially. Id say the money from the cup run went on Hume. Then there was the backing he got over Adam Hammill. I'm not convinced that 3 consecutive 4th bottoms or thereabouts is enough to warrant Davey as a success considering his expenditure.

    There were rumours at the time of his sacking that it was AR's reluctance to spend on new players that did for him.

    I can't argue with that. Suppose on the face of it, 4th bottom is a massive achievement every season.
