Was taken ill at 5pm his name was on the teamsheet but at last minute, Davey had to change it, choosing Hume, who he was hping to rest, since he'd scored from the left against Derby, seemed a reasonable decision. But dont let that get in the way of the witch hunt.
How far would you say i'm off with this list? Knight = No Reid = No McCann = No Eckersley = No Rajczi = No Jones = No Mattis = No Ferenczi = No Odejayi = No Van Homoet = No Johnson = No Mostto = No Werling = No Kozluk = No (played as a left back he is not good enough) Souza = No Christensen = No Macken = No Tininho = No Nardiello = No Warner = No Moore = No El Haimour = No Rigters = No Teale = No Foster = Yes JCR = Yes Muller = Yes De Silva = Yes Nyatanga = Yes Steele = Yes Hume = Maybe Colace = Maybe
How is using a player that is on sedatives a good decision? Whilst leaving your only left sided midfielder on the bench?
lol So - this big squad with everyone pushing for places then Steve - he didn't have anyone else other than a player that you've just said he didn't think was fit? El Haimour not good enough then?
RE: How far would you say i'm off with this list? Ferenczi and to a lesser extent Reid played a large part in keeping us up in Davey's first season, as did Macken last. Kozzy was a great signing but has clearly not been used to his full potential, so I suppose it depends of how you look at it. I'm actually shocked at the amount of players signed by him though, would never have dreamed it was that amount!
RE: How far would you say i'm off with this list? You've missed off Leon - another no. Ferenczi as a no is a bit harsh probably.
Oops, I forgot about Leon and as for Ferenczi I am basing my decision to put him in the no category based on the managers own decision to release him. My theory is that if Simon Davey changes his mind about a player and releases him then he wasn't a good signing regardless of the quality that I personally thought he had
Clearly not I'd have done exactly the same. Hume looked good for the last 20 mins of the Derby game on the left. Had Davey known Macken was going to have a stinker, he might have played Hume up front and El Ham on the left. His team selection was thereabouts for me. The team played cack, no excuses.
The Reid on my list is Kyel Reid by the way, I believe that Ritchie signed Paul. Unless of course you meant Kyel Reid as well. Ferenczi, god player but judged to be not good enough and released by the manager therefore he has to go into the category of a bad signing in my opinion. Would have him over the rest of Davey's **** though
I agree Under the circumstances last night's starting XI is how I'd have gone. Although I'd play Foster and Souza together - those 2 that snuffed out Chelsea.
However, imho they don't want to play for Davey so we have a problem.

Yes, I did mate. Thought he did very well in the run-in that saved us a couple of years back. If you're coming from the point of view of players being signed for the long term and used to their potential, then you are pretty much spot on (though I disagree with you about Hume, see other post). But this brings us back to the fact that he's actually built quite a decent squad, he just has no idea what to do with them. Foster at full back, jesus wept.
My amendments Knight = No McCann = No Eckersley = No Rajczi = No Jones = No Mattis = No Odejayi = No Van Homoet = No Johnson = No Werling = No Christensen = No Tininho = No Nardiello = No Warner = No El Haimour = No Teale = No Foster = Yes JCR = Yes Muller = Yes De Silva = Yes Nyatanga = Yes Steele = Yes Reid = Yes Macken = Yes Ferenczi = Yes Kozluk = Yes Souza = Yes Moore = Maybe Hume = Maybe Colace = Maybe Mostto = Maybe (Deserves another chance) Rigters = Maybe (He's hardly played one game)
Actually, based on last night I'd say JCR is our best left midfield player, but again, thats benefit of hindsight. Didnt go to Blackpool, but read severe criticism of El Ham on here. Was Hume our worst player last night? If we're up for criticising individual players, I'd say Kozluk and Macken were shocking, but they were amongst our better players against Derby. Davey's fault of course.
You and I are looking at it from a different point of view Your list is based on how good the players are when played where they should be played. Mine is how they have performed when played in the position the manager has chosen for them and whether or not their signing has been justified (Mostto). If Davey was sacked and a new manager knew how to get the best out of players then some of the no's would go to yes's straight away (Kozluk for example if played as right back would be a yes, Mostto if given a chance could be a yes or a maybe)
I'd agree Kozluk and Macken were awful And the fact that Macken stayed on the pitch for 90 minutes without performing whilst a striker sat on the bench really has to be the maanger's fault doesnt it? It's one thing getting the team selection wrong (in hindsight) in the first place, that happens. But to then completly fail to even attempt to change it during the game is quite another wouldn't you agree?
Agreed. The players could be good if the manager knew what to do with them. Souza for example could easily swap to the 'yes' list if he was partnered with someone that has strengths where he has weaknesses (foster), Kozluk would be a yes if played at left back, Johnson could be a yes if he was allowed anywhere near the green stuff, Mostto if given more than 24 seconds a week etc. A decent (yet still lacking in certain areas) squad for a different manager but a very poor one for this.
RE: I listened to Radio Sheffield's phone in last night until I went out of range You were too far to the left then. We were inadvertently sat wi El Whatnots mates who took the wise move of sitting next to stewards. Not surprised RR#2 cant wait to leave Barnsley. There are times tarn folk make me blush to my hair roots
